Can anyone make sense as to why someone would do this to their harness? Got the car like this (1st pic)


And also, the second picture id like to know if these 2 wires (circled in second pic) are stock or if I should remove them. Thanks guys.

As for the two unidentified wires, those are for the rear cd changer, and the antenna connection.

The wire hack shows that the po most likely had an aftermarket stereo installled, and was too lazy (I’m being kind here) to look up the proper harness plug adapter from Metra, so that the radio harness did not have to be hacked.

They may have also been trying to bypass the factory amp, located under the passenger’s seat.

Solder and heat shrink wrap the wires back together, and, if you are using an aftermarket stereo, find the correct Metra harness adapter, and it will plug right in.
 
DogWhistle you are halfway correct. The small one is for the antenna but the big one is actually for the factory amplifier. Also the previous owner really was lazy for that hack job.
