Alright, I'm not completely sure what will end up replacing the talon  , basically I just wanted to thank all of you that helped me out on my car and say how great this group is. I can only hope to be back with you guys in a few more years. Thanks.
-Andrew

You'll be back with a 2G AWD in a few years. ;) I had a 1.8L 92 Eclipse in college and 2 years after I graduated I got my 98 TSI AWD :D

There's always the "$400 beater" route. It worked for me and allowed me to park my TSi AWD at home while attending college. $400 beaters might not get chicks, but a girlfriend is yet another money pit you can't afford.

i have a second idea.

if you can afford payments on a new focus with the 4k of your current car loan on top(since the stealership will give you 500 for a non running dsm if youre lucky), you can afford payments for a second car, like a cheapo daily driver or something.

look for a older civic or something, just for crap transportation while the dsm is down, or use it as a DD as not to rack up miles and wear on a dsm. something under 5k, and then get a personal loan from your bank, interest rate shouldnt be much higher than 8%, and since its such a small loan, you can pay it off with the quickness. this way, instead of being 15-20k in debt and having only one car, youre under 10k in debt with 2 cars. having one really nice car(dsm) and one shitty one(daily driver) sounds like a far better plan than one "just ok"(focus) car.

haha, complaining about reliability. $10,000 in repairs and my car is down again with a broken motor mount...sh!t it runs for 1 month and is down for 5 more...im not complaining..im not a rich daddy's kid. Its a hobby, learn from it..the only reason im sticking around is because I like this hobby..money pit or not..it makes me a better mechanic in progress since automotive engineering is my major..

If you cant keep up with maintenance, maybe you should drive a civic.

One last thing, youll be back..they all do

Good news guys...well kind of. The estimated repair cost for my car this time is about 2 grand and I simply can not afford that this time. So my options were either to go in debt fixing it this time, or to sell the car with a majorly damaged engine (spun rod bearings btw.) for almost no money. But I had an ingenious plan (or so I'd like to think), this winter the talon will be put in storage, I will buy a beater, then in the spring when our garage is available I will put the talon in there and hopefully make a fully (or almost) built 4g63 and then when its all done I will just drop her back in and pray to God that my tranny doesn't die, but if it does I will try to sell the beater and have some extra cash for a new one, or maybe a shep one :sneaky: . Anyway, I'm more than ecstatic to be keeping my dsm even given the circumstances and I will not be leaving you guys...at least not for a while. In the meantime I will be trying to soak in as much engine rebuilding, building information as possible :D . Great to still be here.

whine whine whine

when i bought my Talon it had a broke timing belt...bought new head and stuff then it spun a rod bearing, then i rebuilt the 7 bolt (i was dumb and stupid back then) then it shot a rod on the way up to the shootout and ive put so much more $$ then you have, but ill still be in the DSM game.
im driving a 03 cavi and its slow as can be,but ill always be in the DSM game.
if your GST is that big a prob....save 500 and go get a beater as a backup car.
i love DSM's so much i just even got a 91 TSI.

BTW.....the Talon will be back this spring and rocking the 2.3
Wooooooooo

thats my talon on the close side of the last pic there... sorry for hijacking the thread a little bit, but at least you'll get some more pics of your car LOL

And that's my blue one 2nd from the end...heh.

It's OK, really! :D

Besides, you got its more powerful sibling (the EVO) to take its place. Newer car, less problems.

Goodluck on the new car! Dont be a stranger though, Im sure newer members will benefit though your experience with your old DSM. :thumb:

Well guys it's been a fun project but it is coming to an end I am selling my Eclispe.
I've enjoyed working on it and reading posts on here.
I've been a lurker more then a poster but i still figured i would thank everyone for the help they gave me.

My car projects are changing direction a little now.

Thanks All :thumb:

I'm switching from Import to Muscle.

I ordered a 2006 Black Mustang GT 5 speed that i'm going to supercharge.

should be here oh june if i'm lucky the 18 inch wheels are holding back ship time.

I like all types of rides but missed the larger V8 motors so i'm returning.

Not to be a jackass but your telling me your switching from Import to a Muscle?? And what makes you think a DSM is an import?? What makes you think a Mustang GT is Muscle?? One other thing, you havnt really owned a dsm with a 4g63 have you. So basically you are selling your nonturbo for a V8. Not a bad decision at all..but you also havnt felt anything like boost i bet. All i see on your profile is a 420A show car. Well anyways, good luck with your stang.

Enjoy the mustang man :thumb: . I know I enjoyed eating cobra's and saleens with my LS1 Z28 before I sold It for a large profit. I loved all the power and torque of the V8, but my GSX will be oh so much faster when it's completed in the near future. Just remember AWD>all on the street. :dsm:

Hey some of you guys may know me. Ive had a long journey with my DSM..been through some rough times..but some great times as well. I have decided to sell my car. I wont be gone for long though. I am planning on returning sometimes..but this time with maybe a 1G AWD. I am going to be looking at a couple of MKIV Supra TT's this week. If I can find one under $30,000 with low mileage, Im jumping on it. I want to try something new..this time with RWD. I will post pictures of the Supra as soon as i purchase it. I know its going to be expensive but i make good enough money to afford it. Im not selling my DSM because it was a money pit, because my dream car has always been a TT Supra and now my dream is about to come true. Plus i got $15,000 from a court case I won which will help me out as well. Thank you guys for so much knowledge, i love DSM's and forever will. I will still be lurking around these boards.

Goodbye!
:dsm: :talon: :laser: forever

Here is a picture of the Supra i might be picking up this week.
What do you think?? 1994 Supra TT 6 Speed Targa with 70k on the clock. Its black with tan interrior. One owner, female owned :D.

WoW :thumb: sweet ride. newbie to this but definitely repect the choice. i like supras myself and wouldn't mind owning one either. I am barely getting into the dsm but wish i could of known u better as well as assist u just how others do. Good luck on your decision and hope to see u around here soon. ;)

Thanks bro. Man i feel so bad selling my GST. It was such a nice looking car, pretty quick, & fun to drive. I feel like im going into a stranger community, cause i dont know many people with Supra's yet alone i dont know everything about those cars. I knew everything there was about DSM's and i hate to go to a different car..but like i said. My dream car has always been a Supra..and now im fulfilling that dream. I still think 2GB Eclipses looks sexier than Supra's but Supras still look damn good. I dont even know if im ready for the power of a Supra but i wasnt that ready when i bought my dsm either. Either way, im sure ill learn more and more about this car once i start working on it. My plan is to convert the twin turbo setup to single somewhere down the line. Im looking for a solid 500WHP out of this car..but maybe more down the road. And yes, I will be back soon..who knows..maybe when i could afford another car after the Supra..i might pick up another 2G. :thumb:
