For the price and year, your buddy should have gone with an Mk3 Supra Turbo. MUCH better aftermarket support on the go fast parts and therefore will be much cheaper to make fast. Maintenance parts are also easier to find than a Z31. I also would think the Supra is easier to work on. I know the one I had was cake as far as replacing maintenance items like water pump and so on since it's an Inline 6. But I have not worked on a Z31, so I can't be certain.

Personally, I also think they look better .

EDIT: Just noticed you are in Canada . Not sure how it is up there, but I assume it's even harder to find parts than down here. Your buddy is in for a ride.
