How were you confused. An e36 m3 is still way faster than a stock 4g63. 240hp and 240 torque. And it handles better and Is rwd. It's just better in every way besides making easy power like a dsm.

Congrats for making that much out of the car, but on the expense of a friend? Kinda iffy morally, I think. Hope he wasn't a good friend. Lol. Those are definitely nice cars. Personally, I would only move up to an Evo. But thats me.

haha I had easily 15k into it. It was the most perfect dsm you had ever seen not one dent and the paint was flawless. I know the price was a bit high but I had such trouble letting go of the car that I wouldn't settle for less.

Amazing car. I owned a 1999 E36 ///M3 and loved it, until some jerk slammed into my passanger side at 70mph. I'm sure you will love it. The car handles like its on rails and doesn't waste much gas for the power it puts out. I can't wait till I can afford another one. Kind of sucks in the winter though. post some pics!

Iirc from a different thread jacob had a ton done as far as handling and braking mods so $6k seems reasonable. M3 sounds like a ton of fun man!

The BMW has better balance, more suspension options and better braking with less work. It's a better driver's car, but i would never buy an E36M...way too slow N/A, and too pricey to boost the way i'd want to.

Stock vs stock you think the bmw would smoke an awd, in both a straight line and through curves..I don't really know about that..

I've rode in a bmw in the snow and on a gravel road, and I do have to say they do handle exeptionally well..But I have a hard time beleiving that it would hadle better than an awd dsm..

I would love to see this mint condition bmw tho..They are nice looking cars..And they have all kinds of options which is nice..

So really nice pickup man, I'm glad your happy with your buy..

Easily.

DSMs are WAY off balance and can't fit much tire. My basic suspension setup on my E46 worked much better than my current full suspension DSM. My E46 would simply EMBARRASS my DSM in the curves and under braking (because of suspension design and tire size, not clamping force). The balance issue is why this will be my last AWD.

ahaha dsms have the most garbage chassis ever. Car and driver named the e36 m3 the best handling car of all time period. It has 50/50 weight distribution and an incredibly good chassis. Its a pure sports car.

Thats why I sold mine. Mine handled great and all but it doesn't touch the m3.

The us spec e36 m3's aren't even a real m3. They are a suspension package and appearance package added to a 328i. The euro spec m's are a different story, totally different engine.

Also 240 hp on an na car doesn't have much room for improvement. They are plenty dsm's that start life at 190hp that are now making 400+ to the wheels. However, any real performance car is a step up from a 420a.

Sorry to hear you ripped your friend on the deal. For the cash he paid he could have a 400+ hp 4g63 car.

It's just kind of shocking you know..I've never had a problem with curves or braking through curves..I love to boost around curves and still never had a problem..

50/50 weight distrabution would be a plus in the handling catagory tho..

The E36 is a good chassis, and was one of the best in it's day, but that was 17 years ago.

Bimmerforums is funny. The noobs are always so cocky because they own something with a BMW badge. Judging by your tone, you'll fit right in. "BMW Syndrome" i like to call it. Have fun paying the "BMW tax" on all your parts, spending 3K in bolt ons and making less whp than a V6 accord.

Sorry, just thought a little dose of reality was warranted.
