So I was searching the interwebs for a turn #### style drain valve( similar to the radiator drain ####) and I came across this little gizmo, the drain valve and I was wondering if anyone here has it and is it any good, id much rather be able to drain the oil into an old five gallon jug instead of draining it into a pan and get oil all over my hands and normally the ground and have to take the oil covered pan off to dump it. I could get the one with the nipple add a hose drain into a five gallon jug directly, no mess no spills and interior safe. So is this thing any good or a waste of money.

Sounds cool and innovative, but is it really worth the risk of hitting something and tearing it off, draining all the oil and then KABOOOOOOMMM!!!! (over dramatized, more just like your motor seizing up LOL.)

+1. Op, you may think that never happenes but I can get pics of my oil pan where it has a little road rash from the rough roads around here. And that's on stock suspension and stock height. If your car is lowered this should definitely be taken into consideration.

Plus, you have to raise the car and go under it anyway to drain it so why not just bring your wrench with you.

im not saying it doesnt happen and trust me ive blown enough motors due to disappearing oil, I just think this is a niffty little gizmo and im not against turning wrenches I just got done pulling the motor out of the car literally. like a min ago. The reason I want something like this is because of the clean up aspect, I simply attach a hose from the nipple into a 5qt jug and no oil pan, no possible oil spills in the car I just put new carpet in the car and a system and battery is in the trunk, so the only place I have to put an oil pan is in the back seat, which we all nothing fits in the back seat or in the floor board of the passenger seat, id much rather have the oil in a 5qt jug instead of a oil pan from autozone that the cap doesnt seal tight EVER.

out of all the oil I've ever changed, which is a lot. i have never had a problem, set the pan a little farther back for when you first open the drain plug. pull it forward as the oil stream weakens a bit. once its all drained, get a funnel and a milk jug, or the 5qt change jug you've bought after you refill the car. and drain from the pan into the jug.

takes a minute yeah, but i would rather spend the minute then have something hanging under my car that could possibly end its life. I've blown motors at stock height, just going through a pot hole i didn't see.
