Quick DSMlink question

Was looking at the websites FAQ but still kinda confused.

I bought a 95 eprom'd ECU. From what I read, I have to still get the board socketed, and then purchase dsmlink? From what I understand, the dsmlink red chip, gets placed inside the part where they socket?

2nd question - If I can get somewhere local to socket, do I still have to send in the ECU for them to put dsmlink on it, or do they just send the chip and you put it in yourself?

Yes, the red ECMLink board plugs into the EPROM socket replacing the EPROM chip.

Yes, they send you the red ECMLink board and the cable to connect to your laptop.
You install it in the socket making sure it's oriented the right way and all the pins are in the sockets.

Does putting the dsmlink board in require any kind of saudering <sp--?? Is it just lifting the Eprom chip out?

I just lifted mine out if it is the chip installed by link, be careful putting it in it can break.

I'm not sure what your asking.

The EPROM has to be unsoldered from the circuit board, a socket soldering in it's place, and then either the original EPROM or the ECMLink board installed in the socket to provide the ECU with it's software to operate.

Once the ECU board is socketed the EPROM or the ECMLink board are retained by the friction of the pins in the socket and can be removed.

You've got it, once the old EPROM chip is taken out and replaced with a socket, you place the red DSM Link chip into it in the correct orientation.

The chip can then be removed at a later time if you choose to sell it and the stock EPROM chip can be put back in place.


You can have the board socketed and place the chip in yourself once you get it (and the stock EPROM chip) back, they don't need to do it for you. Just make sure all the legs of the chip line up and take your time putting it in place.
