Hey guys I have a nice 1996 gst spyder that I just had rebuilt it currentlly has about 1700 miles I have a bone stock fuel system and my stock t-25... now when I run the car the boost guage reads a spike of about 17 psi and drops back down to about a stable 13psi, I have been reading that on stock fuel system I should not be boosting over 15... also I dont fuel cut
on the spike of 17 and I havent taken it to a seting on the boost controller to make the car fuel cut. Is this normal... or safe for my rebuilt motor??? I am new to the dsm and also this is my first turbo car :D I could really use your help and advise thanks

Mine also has a boost spike of 17 PSI but it settles back down to 13 or 14. I have done a lot of searches on this and it appears to be a very common problem and should not hurt your engine.

You can have a lot of fun with a T25. With a decent fmic, water injection, and cold air/ram intake you can mitigate and supplement the turbos shortcomings. I won't tell you the boost pressure I was running (it's classified). You should decide your max for yourself with the help of a logger.

How long did your T25 last at "classified boost"? Just curious.

Don't get me wrong. If you are into drag racing or almost any other kind of motorsport, a turbo upgrade will eventually be inevitable. I just enjoyed the heck out of the T25 for as long as I could.

It was still going strong at 140,000 when I "upgraded" to a T28. I believe I had 18 psi dialed in as the upper setting of my two-stage boost controller for over a year. I kept the lower, mostly-unused setting at 12.

hey its good to see someone saying that the t-25 is fun... other that calling it a hair dryer!:D as for the logger its on the wish list ... I set the boost down for now and with lower boost its showing a smaller spike... like now when I hit it I do about an 11psi spike and settles at around 9... I plan to keep it there for now... till I can do the boost leak test and fix them if any also I have to do a tune up pretty soon so plugs, wires, fuel & air filter, oil and oil filter... and so on, It's going to be a busy weekend ;)
