My neighbor has purchased a `94 Eclipse GS automatic with a non-turbo 7 bolt 4g63. The motor has extensive damage too expensive for him to repair. I`m willing to donate the 6 bolt motor out of a `91 GSX automatic to help him out.

There are several issues with this swap. Plan "A" would be to use the NA injectors/ecu and the 6 bolt flex plate and run it without the turbo. The lower compression would mean less power, but I`m thinking it would still be ok to drive.
I would probably have to change some sensors and connectors along with the motor mounts.

Plan "B" would be using the turbo, injectors and ecu from the GSX. I`m not sure if the little 13g would be too much for the nonturbo autotrans.

What would work best? What might I be overlooking?

I owe this neighbor a few favors and would like to help him out. But I would hate to see this swap turn into a nightmare:mad:

I`m using the GSX`s automatic drivetrain for a future project of mine. Don`t need the motor.

What size is his motor? If 2.0 thrn it will bolt up fine. The trans will hold for a while also. He will need whole harness and ecu. Maybe axles will be diff also. Not sure

Let me re-state my question.

I want to put a 6 bolt 4g63 turbo motor from a `91 Eclipse GSX, into a `94 Eclipse GS that had a 7 bolt 4g63 non turbo motor. I plan on using the non turbo auto trans, ecu, and injectors. Both motors came from cars with an auto trans. I don`t plan on using the turbo.

What problems can I expect to encounter?

None my car is a 93 with a 91 motor in it had no issues bolting it up. Yes compression ratios are different but I doubt it would give you any troubles.

Give it to him.

He won't notice too much difference outside of just slightly lesser power, but at least it will get him on the road again.

Just swap out the injectors for the NT use along with the mounts. Plus, if it's the complete motor, there'd be lots of rewiring electric wise for the conversion.

Is your car an automatic? I have concerns about the 6 bolt flexplate mating to the torque converter of the `94 non-turbo auto trans.

The VIN for a `91 non-turbo Eclipse automatic 2.0 might be helpful, if somebody can provide that for me.
