I got a 96 talon tsi fwd, and i'm putting a 6 bolt in their. I have read all I can and also read the magnus motor sports article and rre write up on the swap. My question is which one is the newer one, because rre's say i have to drill holes in the block and tap off others. And magnus motor's says all that is different is that one motor mount and cam angle sensor.
My question is thier any other thing thats different and exactly what do i have to do with the cam angle sensor? I'm not the greatest with electrical stuff so try to be specific with the cam sensor change i have to do. I also i heard that the car wont run right till you get dsmlink? Like it has an engine miss code that happends? Is that correct, and if so is thier other ways to do it?

do you want a complete 6 bolt, if you do than go with a 6 bolt block and you have to modify the motor mount, and the wire up the cam angle sensor. drilling and taping the block that is for a 7 bolt front case on a 6 bolt. i have a 1gen head swap on my 96 block. i have random missfire code. When your cruising around 3000rpm the engine just starts to miss you can't drive practically. Do not do what people tell you to about the barometric mod. you will run lean and could blow up your motor its not worth it. Dsmlink is a must to turn off the engine missfire code. On yahoo go to groups and join this group "Dsm1gina2g". Alot of help from these guys check them out.

Will i'm going to be putting the 2nd gen head on the 6 bolt block. I know you need to adjust the head bolts to fit the head on it. I was just wondering if their or any other modifications i need to do?

I planned on going this route, but I do have 1g head from a 93 around. What do you need to do to put this on. Because then I could put 1g intake mani. tb. and that sorta stuff. What all needs to be changed for a full 1g in a 2g?

your going to that you need to re-run wires for the cam angle sensor, and the intake manifold needs to drilled and a plate for the map sensor needs to welded onto the manifold. If you do that you will defintily need the dsmlink to not get random missfire. On the 1st gen thottle body cap off A1 vacuum lines because it won't be used. RRe site is very good at helping you do it they have everything.

Depends on how you look at it the 1st gen tb, intake is just plain bigger more power. if you are tearing everything apart and have the money and time and pataince to do you will see a gain in performance when you start modding or have a modded car.
