question about turbo air intakes and aftermarket BOVs

Hey everyone...... I have a 1995 Eagle Talon AWD (5 speed). I want to add a cold air intake and I have been looking around for the best one. I like the Injen and from what I have read it seems to be one of the best. I was thinking that I might go with it but I see they sell two versions: One for an aftermarket BOV and one for the stock BOV. At this time I have stock but I recently bought a Greddy Type-S that I want to install at the same time as the intake. In this case should I get the aftermarket version or the stock version? I have read something about the recirculation but, not being a mechanic, I don't fully understand it. Also, I wanted to get some opinions on what you all think is the best air intake made for my car? Dejon? Injen? ExtremePSI? Etc? I will probably also opt for the APEXi or K n N air filter. Thanks in advance for helping me out and thanks for the space.

If you plan on going with the Greddy, then you should request the aftermarket flange. Usually, when piping is offered for aftermarket BOV, you are given an option (for example, Greddy or TurboXS).

Reciruclating refers to the BOV recirculating back into the air intake, which you should do. Venting to atmosphere is a debatable subject, but my opinion is that you should.

I have a Dejon Tool intake pipe, and I like it very much. I had to make some modifications to get it to fit properly, though. I don't know anything about Injen or Extreme PSI.

I disagree. Get the intake with the stock BOV return tube. The greddy type-s will work with that. If you vent your car will run amd idle like crap. I don't want to write a paragraph on why, just search "venting" and you will find numerous threads on it. As for the intake it's basicaaly up to you, they are all good products. The injien tends to be a little expensive new but it's your choice. You can even find used ones if you like here in the classifieds.

If you are even thinking of power you should go with a 3" intake pipe from Dejon. It is one of the best out there and can easily be made to fit any smaller turbo with a reducing coupler.

Nothing like buying something twice. Make sure you get the recirculating dump fitting on it. You will be pissed if you don't and your car idles and shifts like shit. The Greddy-S is a great BOV. I am using it myself and have seen/used others aswell. Stick with the Greddy-S.

Save your money and put it elsewhere for now. You can always buy the intake pipe when you figure out how big of a turbo you plan on going.




On a side note, I made the WHP in my SIG with a stock accordian.
