Ok I need a bit of help making a decision. I figured I would ask the DSM brethren. :D

First and foremost I am not a welder, I have an old Lincoln dog house stick welder, and the legendary Harbor freight $99 gas-less mig welder that I glue steel together with.

So what I know about welding will fit in a thimbell with room to spare.

Now I also have a Miller DialArc-HF (black face) This is a water cooled Tig I bought years ago.

I am trying to decide weather I should keep it or sell it off and get a smaller tig Something like the Eastwood AC/DC

TIG Welder | TIG Welders | TIG Welding ? Eastwood TIG 200 AC/DC Welder

Now most of the welding on aluminum I will be doing will be crack repair and filling in "rot" pits in gasket surfaces.

So my beads will be will be ground and machined, not seen.

I want/need something that is fairly easy to use, but will be able to weld cast aluminum.

I have poked around this fourm a bit, and have seen some of the welds that have been laid down. So that means there are some welders in here that may be able to advise me.

Whats wrong with the water cooled you bought years ago.Water cooled tigs are amazing. You can go ham on welding with a water cooled tig.

Although the price of the other one seems legit. It will come down to your choice..

^^^ This exactly

I don't know specifically about your exact model, but I wouldn't come "down" from a water cooled machine to an air cooled one. If there's nothing wrong with your current welder, I don't see a reason to get another.

I've got an HTP water cooled tig. The water cooling gives it a 100% duty cycle...love it. It's a bit pricey, but an amazing welder that will weld anything you throw at it with options galore built in. Worth a look if you're set on getting new and price isn't too much of an issue. Only draws 30 amps from the wall to put out 200 amps at the torch and a very small footprint.

The main reason I have thought about getting rid of the miller and getting a different welder is ease of use.

I really have no clue on how to tig, But I am to a point I need to be able to fill a few holes in heads to cut down on turn around time.

Gamble I did and thanks!
