Question about link

Just picked up a 91 talon tsi that already has v3 link in it. Can I use my new laptop without pulling the current tune off the car? If I put the laptop on and will it see the previous settings (as in evo maf, 1200cc injectors)?

Just to get it right, just hook my laptop up? I've already installed link on the laptop. Is there anything else I will need to do when I put the laptop in?

Once you have Link installed on the PC and the cable secured, and of course the key in the 'On' position, you can directly access the information on the ECU. From here you can make changes, log, record, etc. Just make sure that you follow the connection instructions located on the ECMtuning website if you think you'll get lost.

And don't worry - Unless you make a change and save the change, the ECU will return the information that was last saved to it. That's the magic of EPROM/Flash technology. Randomly accessible and easily modifiable.

I was told by a few when I put the new laptop on I would have to do some setup on the laptop (ie set it to EVO maf, and set the deadtime for the 1200cc injectors), I was however scared that by doing this I would reset the fuel map. Thanks, I'll head outside and give it a shot.
