question about dsm link.

I was reading about it c ause I am pretty sure I want it more than an safc. I just got one question. If I buy it do I just hook it right up or do I have to send my ecu to them so they can make it compatiple. I read somthing about sending the ecu to dsmlink.com so thats why I'm asking. thank for helping

considering you posted no information whatsoever about your car and there is nothing in your profile its going to be pretty hard to get any accurate info. if your car is a 95 you probably have an eprom ecu, in which case you have to replace the eprom thats soldered in there with an eprom socket, then stick the dsmlink chip into that./ if your car is a 96-99 then you have to find a 95 eprom ecu and socket it. if you have a 1st gen you also need an eprom ecu, though dsmlink isnt out yet for 1g's. you can have them socket it for you for 30 bucks or you can be a man and do it yourself, but they dont provide you with a socket, you need to find one on your own. make sense?

Also, if you dont have years of experience soldering I wouldnt go trying to solder on the small pins of an ecu board.

if you have a 1g the tentative date for the 1g dsmlink release is Nov. 1st. IF you infact have a 2g then you'll just need to find an eprom ecu, which are in most 95's like they already stated. Since you dont seem to know much about dsmlink, i'd almost guess u wouldn't know how to soder very well. So yes you'll need to send them your ecu. They are pretty quick w/ their service. I'd recomend sending an e-mail to them b4 you send off your ecu.
