Well first off, how do I determine if I have a leak or a burning problem?
My car was about a quart low on oil after about 1500 miles and after sitting for most of the winter(I didnt check the oil before it sat but its only about 1500 miles in on this oil).
The exhaust has a faint oil smell to it.. and I was told that was normal in a 130k car, but I never noticed anything out of the ordinary and the engine runs good.. no rough idle etc.
I noticed the valve cover leaked a while back and I had oil all down the back side of the engine so I replaced that but on the driver side by the intake tube there is a little square notch with a screw coming out of it that has oil all around it as if its still leaking. I have pics of this in this thread.
Sorry for double posting but no one who answered that thread had a 420a so I got nowhere.

So by looking at these pics do you think this little notch is the culprit.. and what is this piece?
Also, if you dont think this could leak that much oil then what else should I look for as a leak.. I get my oil changed every 3k Miles and each time they say its a quart low.. But this time I just happened to check it a few days ago and it was already a quart low, but like I said, it had been sitting for most of the winter.. which is why I think it may be a leak. Any info from you guys will be great.. I really hope its not internal.
Also, there is no oil in the coolant and vice versa.
