Hey guys, I know I ask a lot of questions :coy: But I'm looking into repairing an oil leak originating from my oil pan/pan gasket. From what I have found, I'm going to need to drop the cross member, which has a trans mount on it. My question is, am I safe to assume that the other motor mounts will hold everything up, or should I grab an extra jack to support the trans? Thanks in advance, I just don't want an oil pan imprint on my face :thumb:

Don't worry. The other two mounts will hold the engine and tranny up. You can remove the cross member without worries.

Umm... You don't NEED to take the cross member off. It would definitely make it easier, but when I swapped my stock pan for my tapped (turbo oil return) pan I left the cross member in place. There's just like 2 or 3 bolts that are tough to reach and see what you're doing with, but if you have patience it's not hard.

Chris is right, the cross member doesnt need to be removed, the exhaust is the problem. So if you have the exhaust out, and that little bracket, as previously mentioned is removed, then you can drop the pan right down.
Dont worry about removing the crossmember, it will just add alot more troubles.

LOL just have a couple various socket extentions available to get up in there to those couple bolts, and watch your knuckles :)

Not sure if this question belongs here.... but while on the subject of oil pans, is there anywhere we can get a baffled oil pan for the 420A? To prevent the oil light from coming on while taking sharp corners at high speeds.
