ok, so probly in the next couple of weeks ill be getting a stroker kit and was wondering what exactly needs to be done to the car. I know that I will have to take the block to a machine shop and get it bored .020 over. Will it need some clearencing in other areas ? Can they do that in the machine shop ? Basically, it will be my fist time going to a machine shop. What exactly should I tell them to do so that the stroker kit will fit properly ?

any competent machinist will see exactly where to clearance the block, just tell them that its a stroker kit, as long as you have a respectable machinist you should be fine. If you have any questions as to the specifics of the machining visit this site http://web.archive.org/web/20040421042053/www.pinktemple.com/stroker.html

That link above has in depth info on the clearance issues with building a stroker. Hope this helps

In that link the guy is puttingin 2.4L does the 2.3L have the same issues with clearence?

Yes. He is making a 2.4L out of the 4G63 block. If you use the 4GCS block, it will not need clearancing. The 4G63 block needs clearancing as stated in that site (the main cap bridges and oil pan).

a good machine shop will know what to do but to be safe just give them the new pistons along with the rings so they can measure. if the pistons are new the clearence needed will be on the box at least my Arias did.
