Those plugs don't lie. That's knock for sure. Don't be afraid of lower timing, it's better than constant knock.
I'm not sure how others are running 22* timing with E85. Maybe they're at low boost? Maybe they have lower compression ratios? BTW I'm using 9.0 comp pistons with a shaved head and block.

My turbo doesn't push oil. I have good crankcase ventilation and the valvecover vent does not go to the intake, which is a common source of oil. There is an air gap between the turbo oil seals and the bearings, so high pressure oil will become unpressurized once it leaves the bearings, so high oil pressure should have no effect on the seals.
 
Every setup is different, but I like timing to ramp with rpm after peak torque as pneumo has stated. 22* across the board IMO is excessive; something like 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 22 would be more appropriate from 4k to 7k(as an example). More isn't always better, timing is more like a necessary evil.

I need to get my car smogged and then im going to do a lil bit of needed maintenance and Im going to be hitting you up at FFTEC for some dyno time... Gotta push this turbo a bit harder and have some fun with the car. I kind of left it alone last year, you saw that, but im trying to come back into the scene this year with ya!

do you guys see a restriction in using a J pipe to a short route IC pipe setup VS reclocking the compressor housing and having a 90* off that going to your drivers side?

Trying to decide if i should spend the money on a J pipe or just pay to have the welding done to the compressor housing for the actuator mount.

Hey Danny! Yeah, I'm happy with my car right now. E85 has taken the car to a new level. It's funny that my original plan was to run the 16G until I had my E85 tune dialed in because I could learn about tuning on E85 at a nice 'safe' power level. ROFL
so much for that idea!

I haven't measured actual pressure drop, but I estimate the downflow outlet is good for an extra 1/2 psi.

Thanks for that. I am going to just bite the bullet and reclock the compressor housing. Going with a 2" 90* off the flange expanding to 2.5".
