I'm new to this forum, but not new to the DSM world. I sold my modded(16g w/supporting mods) 98 GS-T over a year ago and purchased an STi. I could not take being DSM-less, so I found this 1991 Talon TSi AWD for $350 for a project car. The car is in decent shape inside and out. The only catch, the timing jumped and I know there are some bent valves. Not sure how bad everything is until I tear it down. Hopefully, no piston damage for right now.
Anyhow, i'd like some suggestions on a build up scheme.
I am figuring on doing this for starters...
*pull the head and inspect the damage. If no piston or block damage, rebuild the head with SS valves, maybe mild porting and 1mm oversize valves.
*put back together with ARP studs, brand new timing belt, balance belt eliminator, new tensioner, new water pump, accessory belts, new gaskets.(anything else?)
*replace all fluids, remove abs, gut interior, remove a/c.
*once running, install a DP, MBC, 2g MAF, S-AFC, big fuel pump and regulator, gauges(boost, EGT), ACT 2600, 550's or 650's, pocket logger.
*after its running good, do a turbo upgrade...maybe a FP Green, T3/T4, EVO III 16G, or?...
My goal for the car is to see atleast 12's and then work into the 11's.
Then after that, forged internals and a standalone.
