Few pics of the blown turbo. Anyone here have experience with PTE's rebuild service? How long should I expect to get the turbo back?

Pretty Sad.... :<

Damn how did you make this !? you drive with out filter !?
It's better to take new turbo. I buy garrett 60 trim from ebay with same shaft play.
And the core price 750$ from slowboy racing. That's very hard for rebuild.

this is a little off topic, but that box of gloves in the second picture made me giggle "protect your hands, without sacrificing feel"

ROFL well at leasts they're not ribbed.

He has the gloves, yet his hands are so dirty when showing the shaft play...

That sucks, how'd it happen?

?????

That appears to be a journal bearing turbo- if so, I could rebuild it in less than 30 minutes because there's nothing to clean up. New Garrett journal bearings are $20/pair, and you'd have the rest in the cost of a new compressor wheel.

Yeah if the center housing have a damage look how much he shoud to pay for new housing.Whoever i have garrett bb with damaged housing.
You don't know what happen with this turbo so.

It is a PTE 6152SP Journal Bearing turbo. This entire incident happened due to loosing oil pressure twice last year due to my shitty water cooler coil housing. Finally changed it to an air cooled oil housing and haven’t had a problem. Since the mains on the crank float on oil when I lost pressure it was crank on bearing action. So they slowly got worse and worse. I used to have a GT3076R which was a BB turbo. I recently purchased a PTE 6152SP. Since it is a Journal bearing turbo, it needed much higher oil pressure. The shards from the bearings clogged the oil pickup and whatever oil the turbo did get was way below normal and full of shards. So that did it. The turbo made great numbers though. It made 460whp at only 21lbs of boost. The turbo should be fun in the 30psi range. Tons left in er. What’s the point with FWD though.... But it was a great turbo.

Here's a dyno sheet for the 6152SP with low boost. The chart on the bottom is the dyno run from a year ago with the GT3076R. The new 6152SP is accompanied by an EMS unit and all sensors, Uego, SBR manifold, custom DP,.... The 6152 and 3076R spool identically due to a fantastic tune done by Emery of Street Tuned Motorsports in Rochester, NY.

I hope to find out from Michael at PTE on Monday of how much it would cost to rebuild. I hope to have er back together in the next few weeks.

Just got off the phone with Matt at PTE. Says that my turbo has major contamination in the oil and that they have to basically replace my entire center section.
Then he said that the warranty will cover all of it. I was speechless! Getting it all rebuild for FREE!!!!!!!! Wow....THANKS PTE!

He said they are going to do everything they gotta this week and ill have it back for Tuesday next week. Can't wait to unleash the ponies again!

I would've NEVER suspected a turbo company cover warranty due to other mechanical issues unrelated to the turbo.

Even the warranty I offer on my rebuilds is void if I tear it down and find metal clogging the oil passages.
