Driving home the other day I hear a humming noise followed by a huge loss in acceleration and ALOT of burning oil and I could hear the turbine rotor rattling around. I came to the conclusion quickly that I lost my turbo. I drove my car home with burnt oil spewing out of the damn thing.

Can someone tell me what went out specifically and why?

Im also looking for another stock turbo (T-25) to put back on, so if you have one feel free to PM me.

I also would like to know how difficult it is to replace the turbo, Ive never touched mine.

Thank you,
~Mitsu

The turbo did....because it's old.

Turbos do not last forever, especially the T25. Be happy yours last this long.

New T25's are too expensive, rebuilt T25's are hard to come by, and used T25's are normally a roll of the dice....you could get one that lasts 50 miles or 50k miles.

I'd ditch the whole idea of going with a T25 and find yourself a clean used 14B or Small 16G. The Mitsu platform is much more reliable than the Garretts used on our cars.

With a little modification to your coolant lines, oil drain, and intercooler piping, you could have a better-flowing turbo with more power potential and 10x the reliability of the T25.

There are tons of "how to's" on here as well as VFaq.com if you're looking for a helping hand with your turbo swap.
