One of these things is not like the other, one of these things are just not the same.

It looks like it can be templates for a sub box.

HAHAHA yup!!! (at the Dick in a box)!!!! the Texas Two incher! Its like a couple tuna cans put together LOL... ok ok here is what it really is!

Its not done, still need to heat wrap it and then put on rubber trim to block it off at the fender, BUT it is completely sealed at the bottom to the fender of the car. when I put my hand under into the SMIC hole and felt my filter, only the part that was close to the unsealed section was "warm" not super hot like before. And the back of the filter was ice cold!

And yes, It was an extreme pain in the ass putting it all on, its SUPER tight, had to pull the full intake. put the box in first with mas bolted on, then slide my couplers all the way on to the intake pipe then slide back onto the turbo and mas... took like 30 minutes just to get the pipe on

Looks like a template for an air filter box.

Edit: Looks like I was right. Where does the air come in from?

SMIC hole, its not done, this is just the box so far. I will use a 3"MAF adapter from autozone to mount over the SMIC hole, then use some piping from there to draw air from the bumper

BUT, It is so sealed off as-is that I cant even hear my BOV recirculating anymore... it used to be as audible as an open dump BOV. Oh well, Im happy with the results so far and it will get better..

I have a question for people familiar with heat wrap and/or heat tape... I was thinking of getting the silver reflective "cloth" that people use on intercooler pipes etc that reflect heat... I was wondering if I can use strips of this with epoxy to the box? or could I use strips and rivet it to the edges? if I used it id like to wrap it with a 50% over lap to have a double coat, Im just unsure on how to "finish" it off...

Or any other suggestions welcome!

That's exactly the stuff I was referring to... I said in the post, "the reflective type" I just didn't know its correct term... they also make a cloth backed one which is what id like to try and use, the cloth would be the barrier between the reflective surface and the intake box.... like insulation? Is that correct or should.I just crudely slap this tape on there?

Actaully thinking about it.... if I had the patience, that gold tape would look absolutely sweet if it were put on like it was woven around the box.... it would look like a baseball infield so to speak

This is the stuff I was referring to: http://paceperformance.com/i-5136630-hsp340020-thermaflect-reflective-tape-1-1-2-wide-x-20-long.html

I am debating on two things for the finish of this box.

1) Cover it with the reflective heat tape and then finish the edges with split rubber hose.

-or-

2) Pull the fender off and use the tape going across to the fender support, then bolting it back on to pinch it in there.

I'm sure both will work well, but I can't decide which to do. I'd have to always make sure I had some tape in the car if I ever had to remove it for a repair... hmmm
