Couldn't find my answer in search so Im posting here. I currently put a Turbo XS BOV on my 1g stock sidemount piping. A hard tune gives it the sputter I read so I switched it to soft because pst pst pst is bad for the turbo I guess and can make it spin backwards or something like that. How do I give it the flush single release? I had to cap off the dump also because the vaccum line is the only "tube" going to the bolt on. I dont like the sputter and I change it to semi soft and the results were awkward.--pshhhhh followed by pst pst pst.
please help
thanks, Garrett.

Try re explaining it. You are trying to adjust the BOV so it doesn't sputter and what is the capping of the dump because you only have one vacuum line?

If you don't have a gm MAF in blow through or converted to speed density then you should be recirculating back to the intake.

Compressor sure is much different than a fluttering BOV.

I don't have much info to go on but I just want to say your turbo wont spin backwards but compressor surge will kill both your turbo and your motor.

If you can easily go back to a stock BOV or a 1g BOV I'd do it.

Also make sure you run your blow off valve recirculated.

I understand about the flutter and for that you want to make the spring as hard as you can it took me about 15 drives to make it correct you don't want it too stiff! I've got a greddy type s and I've got mine 3 turns softer from the hardest point! It seems to work best with my mods and I will adjust if I need to.

As to the capping off I'm a little lost also a little lost as to what you mean! Can you tell us what you mean

Try setting it to it's softest setting and then doing a boost leak test. Once you know there is no leak, slowly turn it up in increments until you reach the right spring force.

Although I agree with the above, either get a blow-through or tuning software enabling you to correctly dump to the atmosphere or find a way to recirculate.

Also you don't want to go too soft as when you build up a lot of pressure it can actually push it up and leak into the return pipe. As I said before mines quite hard and it don't flutter its a single blow and its nice

I capped off the dump with a rubber head from the headlamp motor. How do I know which is flutter and which is surge?

You cant cap off the dump. It has to be recirculated back into the intake pipe. You are probably killing your turbo.

....No, you ARE killing your turbo.

REALLY!!! Soft?? I would say the other way around as when I have mine on soft I lost boost through it! Granted there all different and only hks are the best design but mine fine on a hard setting and well I'm clueless now LOL my bov works perfectly as it came of a fully working r34gtr he ran 2 of these and I took 1, had me thinking for a second that mine could be broken ha ha phew for that relief.

Just play with the settings to find what suits you best mate every car and bov takes different steps to set up as I said on mine was about 15 drives and I'm happy although I'm now a little worried I might have mine set up completely wrong ha ha but my cars fine and I've not broken down so I'm leaving it how it is

You have several things you need to take care of. As stated below, the BOV return or "dump" as you're referring to needs to be recirculated back to the turbo inlet pipe. This is completely different than the "intake". As far as the spring adjustment goes, personally I would not have messed with this until I was able to get my hands on a boost leak tester. Whatever your target psi is you're wanting to run, you need to tighten your bov adjustment until it will hold your planned psi + plus a few extra for possible spikes. It shouldn't be adjusted to the "sound of the bov you want it to make". It needs to be adjusted to the functional purpose of the adjustment screw. But first thing you need to do is take that rubber cover off of the bov return. There's air in your upper intercooler pipe that is needing to go somewhere and is instead beating itself back to your turbo.
