So I'm getting ready to install a Precision 50 Trim turbo on my 1g Talon TSI. It has the bolt-on DSM exhaust flange. But I had a few questions before I dig in. Will there be any fitment problems with the front motor mount, or anything else like the big coolant line that runs behind the turbo? Also, will the stock oil drain work with it or will I need to buy an aftermarket soft line kit? I know the turbo isn't coolant cooled so I don't have to worry about that part. Any advice is appreciated! Thanks!

You'll definitely have to cut the roll stop bracket to gain clearance to run an oil drain properly. Stock drain will not work, and you may have to dent the water pipe a bit depending what manifold you're using.

I don't know the physical difference between your Precision 50 and my HX40 but here are a couple pictures. If they are similar in compressor cover size, I had to slightly dent my water tube for clearance, easily done with one smack with a BFH before painting it and you will probably have to trim one side of the front roll stop bracket like in my picture with the red circle (you will have to zoom in to notice). I plasma cut the lip of the roll stop bracket off and it gave me enough room for the oil drain and the intercooler coupler to sneak by but its a squeeze. I hope you can see the mods in the pictures.

Sorry Justin, you beat me to it! But you are the guy to ask and who I asked, so hopefully he got the same answer! PS, your turbo sure looks nice on my little engine!! :applause:

Haha thats a good looking setup!! Thanks for the help guys. Just one last question, right now my car has a recirculated stock bov. I'm wanting to get a Tial BOV, but will it need to be tuned for venting to atmosphere? Its an Automatic too BTW.

There is a lot of back and forth on weather to recirc or not. I am not and I WAS using a crushed 1G BOV and now have a NGR S-Type (Greddy, basically) and it is not recirculated. When the car was running last year it was tuned by one of the freelancers on here and his tune never needed it recirculated. I am going with different stuff this year, one being speed density so I will be starting all over again but I will be venting to atmosphere. Just what I am doing and thanks for the compliment. Its much prettier with the red powder coated valve cover with black lettering, staying with the Red/Black theme. :thumb: Well I hope that Justin got you all straightened out as he is the one that I would trust!

I will post up a picture of just the front roll stop so you can see the trimming you will need to do as soon as I can get home tonight! Always glad to help!

This is how I had to trim my front rollstop. It gave me proper clearance for the -12AN oil return line and the intercooler coupler and pipe. They say a picture is worth a thousand words so here's two thousand! :)

haha thank you! that helps! I'll try and get some pictures as I do mine. Need a few more parts like oil drain, and recirculated o2 housing. I have an open dump o2 housing but the turbo is open in between the wastegate hole and exhaust hole. So it would be loud all the time if I used my open dump. :/

So i've been looking around for an oil drain for this turbo.. Not really sure what to get that will fit properly. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to the right drain kit to buy?

I like yours in the picture, how both end fittings are longer and have the angles. That takes any bending out of the hose.

This is my drain setup. -12AN drain size from RTM Racing included all adaptors and fittings. A little pricey but what I wanted.

Yeah that looks good too. Just thought of another random question. Can you buy a re circulated o2 housing that has 2 sensor bungs already welded on it?

That's not something I've seen yet. I see you have a 1g, and if you have dsmlink v3 (now off of backorder :) ), you don't need the factory o2 anymore. You can put the wideband in the factory position, and simulate narrowband from that while being able to log the wideband for tuning.

Or just keep the factory o2, and install the wideband per instructions, with the included bung to weld on your exhaust pipe, 24" from the turbo.

I don't have V3 yet, but as soon as I get this turbo installed i'll be getting V3 then having it dyno tuned!! can't wait to see what she makes.

OK, here is my current issue. This is the exhaust side of the turbo I'm getting ready to install. There is an opening between the wastegate flapper and the exhaust outlet. I have an open wastegate dump o2 housing. With that being open inbetween there will be constant exhaust gases coming out the open dump. I dont want that... what solutions do I have?

That's just..... weird. You are correct in your thinking. I'd get a new/used hotside that didn't have someone chop all that out.
