When I'm driving, the power steering works great, but when i go to turn, if i hit the lock, it squeals like a son of a bi***, once when i hit really high rpms, it threw a couple ribs from my brand new belt

Sounds like your tensioner is going out. Just happened to my caddy, started out like yours and eventually threw the belt off. Possibly could be low on ps fluid or lines could be clogged. Hope this helps!

It doesn't help because our tension is mechanical. Its not a caddy. If your sure the belt is tight and it still squeals you may need a new belt.

Before getting a new one take the belt off and use sand paper to scratch uo the pulley. then reinstall and tighten properly. Not mega tight though, but goodentight. While running take the sand paper and tap the underside and sides of the belt. Then see if that fixes it.

check your fluid level in the tank. It squeals due to the pump is under a lot of tension when steering is at the extremes and the level drop due to the rack's pistons are being under the pressure...and get that belt good and tight being a "V" belt.

MJcanada my fault! I had no clue there was a difference, figured the 2 probs seemed similar is all. I just got my first DSM so I don't know motor specifics but atleast I learned something! Also I did mention the low ps fluid and so did the next guy, so I might've helped :)

My fluid is very clean, and the fluid is at a perfect level. And every now and then, my car makes a ticking noise from that area, its around the idler/ and kinda by the a/c, and when i hear the ticking, i can feel it on some rubber a/c thing in the passenger front wheel well.

Ticking could be bearings in the a/c orr something wrong with the compressor itself. What rubber a/c thing?

In the passenger wheel well, there's a rubber cover that's covering something that's attatched to the a/c system, and it's held on with two 10mm bolts, one on each side of the splash shield. Btw, i've got the 420a. And my idler pulley (which is what i assume is the pulley we're all talking about, on the power steering belt track) is really rough, like worn looking.

check your other pulleys that touch the same belt, you could have a bad pulley somewere else making it seem like its your p/s.

Is it lonely up there on your pedestal MJcanada? Not to mention he stated his power stearing squeaks, never specified what it was exactly qite obviously that's why he was asking what it could be. Pretty sure from what I read on here it sounds like ps pulley http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/432492-tensioner-pulley-420a.html this guy SEEMED to have the same problem.

Are you seriously trying argue over this? Why dont you reread my post and tell me which part was offensive towards you. Pretty sure it said it maybe low fluid but unlikely, and it wasn't. And whining isn't squeaking.
if you can't tell the difference btwn the tensioner on a caddy and a dsm then you dont need to be arguing with anyone on here. blind guessing its what thats called.

Op make sure none of the ps bolts are bent. There seems to be an issue with that on 420s. Have some 1 help you and turn to steering lock while you check the pump and belt out while its.squealing if it is the issue.

Also you can try spraying wd40 on the ps belt and see if it still squeals. That'll make sure its the belt or not.

My steering wheel was whining and I kept puttin in Lucas power setting fluid
Until I noticed that my axel was messed up
I replaced it and now it doesn't whine

My dad watched as i turned the wheels to lock, and he said when it squealed, the pump almost came to a stop. But during the dry steer, the power steering worked great

if it didn't move like and misalign the belt and just squealed then its not tight enough, tighten the belt. If you can't tighten it to where it stops then try roughing up the pulley with some sand paper and the belt alil too. If that doesn't stop it you may need another belt.
