Yesterday I had all the air intake stuff apart (see pics in previous post) and now I have an oil leak coming from somewhere on the drivers side of the engine bay, more towards the front. I do not know if my tinkering with all those hoses has anything to do with it, but i am positive it was not doing this before yesterday. i check under my car for leaks religiously, every time I park it for an extended amount of time. Anyways, I have not located the leak yet, but this is what I have done to try and figure out what is causing it and where its coming from:

1) it leaks only after I drive it for longer than 15 minutes or so. It doesnt leak while im moving, or while the engine is on and at operating temp. Also, I have noticed no smoke. After driving for 15 minutes or so, the car cools, and thats when it leaks oil; a silver dollar sized puddle is how much it leaks before it stops. So far, all the puddles have been about this size.

2) I went outside and idled the car for about 5 minutes, let it warm up some, then let it cool for about half an hour, and so far it hasnt leaked a drop. When it idled though, i never let the turbo spool up.

A loose line on the turbo is what i *suspect* is the problem since I was messing with all that yesterday. Any other ideas.

I'm not trying to sell stuff here... but if you need a brand new mitsu voltage regulator ... for a 2G... I believe it is the same as the 1G let me know and I'll PM you the price for a good deal. I was going to rebuild an altenator and then decided to skip on it. So its just sitting in the packaging. Someone know if the 1G = 2G voltage regulator?

Get it the hell outa that shop & go buy some assorted size Viton O Ring Kits at any REAL Auto Parts Store - BTW your Alt is already probably severely wounded from the PS Fluid - The PS Fluid kills the Voltage Regulator, which fails to HIGH Voltage & then cooks your ECU - VERY common - MANY threads on this Searching "Steering Pump"...

http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-forum/258524-part-power-steering-pump-o-rings.html

Just curious...I had a bad ps fluid leak too, had to replace the o-ring in the top bolt on the pump. Anyway fluid gushed out all over my altenator. That was back in September and about 200 miles ago. So, what can I expect as far as my ECU goes?? Is that a definite damage or a most likely or should I get out there tomorrow and change the altenator out? I've had no probs since then.

God knows ALL our ECU's are "dying" slowly - & certainly the VAST majority of us are at least on our second ECU - I'm on my THIRD as I cooked a brand new rebuilt before finding out the VERY common scenario I'm conveying here - In GENERAL it appears that the High Voltage from the bad Voltage Regulator targets the chips that control the Injectors - In my case & a LOT of cases the Injectors go WFO & you flood your Crankcase with gas, suddenly you have like 7 Quarts of Oil~! - Furthermore before my dumbass figured it out I bent a Rod trying to compress Gasoline, you CAN do that with the Starter believe it or not - SO>>> I'd check my Voltage as HIGH Voltage can be a LOT less obvious than Low Voltage & REALLY think about changing out that Alt pretty soon.

I changed EVERY PS Pump Seal, including that teeny internal O Ring that's in between the ECU Connector Pin & the Threaded Fitting on Front of Pump - We need an exploded view to maximize this Thread but damned if I can find one - I'm sure some GURU will blow in here any minute & post it.

Well, the PS pump itself is leaking. I went to a local junk yard and grabbed a '93 2.0L engine PS pump, but it wasnt the same as the one on my eclipse. That was a $45 well spent :| Apparently the PS pumps are year and engine specific. Anyways, as it stands now, Ive got it back home now, with it still leaking profusely. Im waiting for enough fluid to fall out so I can get a bottle of Lucas PS stop leak in the system. While its pissing on itself, anyone know how to keep that stuff from killing my alternator. i just need some cheap idea of rerouting the drip away from the alt, say with aluminum foil or something. Any ideas on that. Oh, and im also looking for a new PS pump.

Pray tell what were the differances? I have a 91 pump on my 90 and it was a direct bolt up. The only differance was the 90 has a cast iorn body where the 91s was alloy to save a ounce or two in weight.

I get gas in my block too... Anyway, should I take out he ecu and check it for damage? can you see some on the ecu? Thanks!

You saw my Post about bending a Rod trying to compress Gas - It will quit running before it does that as it's REALLY flooded then - not good~! - & yes you;ll see your burnt chips on ECU.

So it's not just the O Ring Seals? - & BTW that Lucas isn't going to do SQUAT.

Why wont it do anything? the shop guys said that might just do the trick. it only leaks (at least it DID only leak) after running for a while. is there a way to temporarily seal the pump, say for a few weeks or so? I have a tube of automotive goop, or something to that effect, which works wonders on just about every other application. sould I smear a good bit of that on the pump where its leaking and stop the leak for a bit?

I learned this from a old auto transmission man, put a tea spoon of good oll DOT3 brake fluid in the system. It will swell the seals slightly but not just the pumps but also the rack.

The trick was used on old tired GM TH350 trannies that had a case of morning sickness (would not go into gear first start of the day) it was to strech the life of a unit that was almost dead.

Try it at your own risk.
