possibly tranny linkage problem

Two days ago i am on my way to the mistu dealership were i work and i all the sudden can't get into 5th gear. So i limp into the dealership and it won't go into reverse. I check the shift cables along with a mistu tech and they are fine but the i still have a hard time trying to move the stick from side to side when in neutral. I attempted to drive it and i have 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th and all no problem to get into. I can get it into 5th but it requires alot of difficulty. I basically have to slam it over. Some people told me that it might be a tranny linkage or shift linkage problem. I can't find any info on how to fix it can you guys help me out

i had the same problem after i replaced my tranny so i got new shifter cables and now it is fine

I had the same problem, first 5th and reverse were gone, then 3rd gear was where 5th was supposed to be. Anyway the problem ended up being the shift linkage.

I recently had the same problem , just a little worse. I only had second, third, and fourth. Replaced cables and it shifts great now. Unhook them from the tranny and see if the shifter moves freely. That will tell you shifter or cables or if it is a tranny problem.

it shifted fine once i unhooked the cables so i am positive it is a tranny problem
