1G possibly new good brand

So after head gets looked at machine shop, I'm planning on installing a 3' gm, and I found this air filter. The top glue is kinda sloppy, but so far I have not seen any holes in the foam. Just kinda worried about the brand concidering there's no reviews. Got it in a auction for 13 when they sell for 15. I'm going to run it for a week and check the compressor blade for damage. Any information you guys have would be great. But I feel like these might be a hit or miss with each bought filter. Found something I don't like too much. Rrubber connection doesn't seem to be perfectly fitted, so I'll be super gluing it to the metal.

Don't risk replacing a turbo...or worse. Get a quality filter.

I run pretty much the same filter. Have for a year. Not a hint of it falling apart. You'll be fine

I think he is. And I don't see those K&N filters going away anytime soon.

I bought a cheap $15 3" air filter on ebay with no brand on it at all. The glue is even more sloppy on the inside then yours and I ran it for a year with no issues. I was pushing around 17 psi on a 14b at the time, the way I see it the sloppier the glue means they used more then needed so it should hold better .

Its a filter....not a big deal. I run no filter and am not worried about my turbo blowing so why should you?

Depends on how they're constructed. Some have a ring or other material glued to the inside of the filter itself, especially on one of those dual conical ones as above.
That piece comes loose, gets sucked in.. I had a short ram filter come apart like that on my DD. Luckily it was the outside piece, similar to a Vibrant. May have even been a Vibrant, who knows.

Cheap filters also can cause more restriction without necessarily increasing filtering capacity.

The car I bought that donated its engine ran no filter.
I had to scrape the inside of the compressor housing with a screwdriver and all the compressor fins were chewed up.
Neh, rather not risk that.

Is it an oiled filter like a K&N or dry? What is the filter media made of?

Just like an oil filter they are all made fairly similar but that doesn't make them all the same. Differences in the quality of the filter media, amount of surface area, how the components are assembled (which you already said the rubber to metal was questionable), possibly flow differences, plug easy, too open, and the list could go on. Keep an eye on it.

I've run a K&N and an accel kool blue which both are very similar including being oiled "lifetime" filters. Probably made in the same factory.
