Yeah the crankwalk thing sucked, but if your car was under warranty mitsubishi fixed the problems.

If your car is 9 years old and it crankwalks it is only going to take you 1500 to put in a 6 bolt motor that will take tons of abuse.

i would love to put in a 6 bolt but i can't seem to find a shop around here that is willing to do it and no way am i gonna attempt it myself - also, i'm worried about the resale value if i put in any new engine - know of any shops in ohio that do the 6 bolt swap?

Any motor can get crankwalk, 6 bolts do it about 1000x less frequently than 7 bolts though.

Hmmmm, coult that be because that many more 7-bolts were made than 6-bolts? But, I agree that any motor can crank walk, even a rotary. Seen it wit my own 2 Iz

No, you are just flat out ignorant if you believe 7-bolts do not have an EXTREME problem.

So, you take a factory 210hp motor and double or triple the output and then cry when it breaks. Thats ignorant. Be realistic, things happen and problems occur REAL performance people understand that. Any motor that is changed from factory has a greater risk for failure.

some good news for us 7bolt guys supposedly magnus has been hving great luck with throwing the 4g64 crank in the 7 bolt block and not having any cw issues. That could partly be due to their engine build quality but I will be going this route when I do my rebuild, just thought I would throw this out there for the people who did not want to do a 6bolt swap. This does however make the car a 2.3L but I have no problem with the extra torque that will be made.

Somewhere, quite long ago, there was a topic to this thread about someone snagging a nice, new 7-bolt short block.

However, the cost of time seems to have obscured that once-noble topic, and with a last heavy sigh, yet another verbal bout of a dog trying to catch its tail looses its last breath.

Where in the world do you get a brand new 7 bolt for cheap?

And this new 4g64 crank idea....I might have to try that, but is it that simple to just install a crank and be done with her?

I don't even know the topic of this thread anymore
