possible crankcase pressure solution?

My car has blown front/ rear seals, valve seals and others along the front case... The only thing I can think of is that maybe its too much pressure in the crankcase while boosting. what are possibe solutions to relieve the crankcase pressure?

I looked into the RRE Catch Can is that a possible solution?
 
Check your pcv valve to make sure that it is working... check you hoses to the pcv valve to make sure hat they are not clogged... do a cylinder leak down test to make sure that your rings are sealing properly.... don't look for band aids but try to find the source of your problem and then fix it....

Not one of my customers has complained about vehicle operation or excessive oil consumption. This method completely eliminates blowing out the dipstick due to excess crankcase pressure....the results are immediate.

This method is used by many people, however in my opinion has certain drawbacks. I kept the functionality of the original PCV and VC breather because this system is designed to circulate air through your crank case. This helps to exit fuel and exhaust fumes in the crank case due to blowby. If you did not have this functionality, you could experience oil degradation and excess wear on your internals.

I have, however, augmented the PCV with a 1-way checkvalve along with an in-line catch can between the valve cover and intake pipe.

Some people think the effect is negligible, however I have noticed that oil will smell of fuel if the elimination method is used. Besides, keeping the stock system with the added parts I described is easy and I can't think of any disdvantages. Whether or not you think it will matter is up to you, just be aware of the possible consquences.
 
I drill and tap the back of the block where the bolt goes to check the postion of the balance shaft. I then run a -8 hose to a cath can.

I run the RRE catch can inbetween the crank case and intake pipe. You want the vacuum assist from the intake pipe. I pulled the filter off the can, sealed the top filter opening, then reinstalled the filter for cosmetic reasons. So its a sealed catch can. Works great though a little oil still sneaks thru the can. No crankcase ventilation problems I can detect.
 
for the people running a speed density setup or something where intake pipe isnt used, how do THEY relieve pressure from the VC side without the intake pipe being there like it was from factory? im sure theres gotta be a RIGHT way to vent both pcv and VC side without using any of the factory stuff

The guys running no intake pipe at all usually have drag-only cars and rebuild their engines or change their oil often enough that CC ventilation isn't a concern. I don't recommend not using an intake pipe on a daily anyway due to increased intake temps you'll see.
 
Most DSMs that I've seen that don't run an intake pipe, only use a vented catch can for crankcase evactuation. Definitely not the most optimal solution, but there's not many inexpensive solutions at that point. And I'm with these guys^^^. Run an intake pipe if you can. You'll get cooler air entering your compressor and your engine will thank you. Then you can use your intake pipe to help evacuate the crankcase, so it's a win-win.

but lets say a drag-only car or whatever. theyre not using the intake pipe to help with sucking the pressure out the CC no more like a normal street driven car would.

my question was if they dont have none of the factory stuff HOW do they relieve pressure in the CC?

but what makes his car so special that a normal street car cant just vent both things like he has without any problems? :hmm:

The need for having vacuum drawing out crank case gases is for keeping the oil clean. The above pic you posted: the oil in that motor probably was changed the morning of when that picture was taken.

If you change your oil very frequently, only track the car, etc. then you can just let the vents sit large and open to a can or even to the atmosphere. But I like clean oil without having to change it every 2000miles. And I like having even better sealing at low/no boost and cruising speeds to get better fuel mileage. Vacuum behind the piston rings helps that. My car isn't a "Track only" car.

Some race cars utilize a vacuum pump to maintain a small amount of vacuum on the crankcase. Others just use really large vents to try to keep crankcase pressure to a minimum. This is what Shep has set-up in that picture. It's not the best solution, but it's better than nothing. In either event, it's best to have some sort of vacuum to help draw out crankcase pressure.

Right. Poor crankcase evacuation simply means that more of the garbage gets left inside of the crankcase and in the oil. Not that big of a deal for a race car that gets an oil change every outting.

Well for one thing, he's making upwards of 1000hp, and can fill a 2qt catch can in a couple of passes. It's not really fair to compare Shep's car or any other car at that level to a "normal" street car :)

Lot's of people run catch cans with open breathers, and swear by them. Several of us also run a sealed system with zero oil in our intakes and IM and prefer that. If you do some searching, you'll find 2346789126 opinions on the subject, as well as a lot of testing that has been done. Like Paul mentioned...in some cases there isn't a feasible alternative. But for a lot of street setups, it's just a matter of choice.

I'll stay out of the debate on whether sealed is better than open on a street car (since I'm biased), but there are two facts that can't be denied:

1. An open "air filter" type breather means that any sub-micron particles and aerosols entering the can will also eventually leave through the open filter. Look closely at a lot of cars running an open paper-style filter and you'll see the filter is soaked in oil, and at least part of the engine bay is also.

2. With an open catch can, you are saying in effect that you aren't going to do anything about CC evacuation until the pressure inside the crankcase is high enough to overcome atmospheric pressure plus any drop across the filter, lines, and can (which is why "open" systems usually have more and larger lines). With a sealed system plumbed back to the intake, you are "sucking" on the CC, so you can keep a vacuum (or close to it) on the CC at all times.
