Porting and Polishing 2G intake Mani.

I am a big fan of porting and polishing stuff. So when I bought my dsm I was elated to see that I could port out so much crap. Like the O2 housing and exhaust manifold. I will be doing that shortly. but I want to know if it is worth my (free) time to port and polish the stock intake manifold? It has 110k miles worth of build up and crap. There is an article on here, but the pictures are dead and it doesn't go in depth. I did a search, but the results were inconclusive. Please give me your opinions on this. Thanks.

You might want to start with a new manifold depending and your manifolds condition. 2G manifolds run around $180 and Evo III's run a little more than that. Check out www.vfaq.com and they have a porting section with pictures on both that manifolds and O2 housings.

From the searches I've done I've found that it is not worth porting the intake manifold with out porting the head itself. Also, the 1g intake manifold (vs 2g) has more "meat" on it, would take better to porting, and has a larger I.D. at the throttle body. You might want to pick up a 1g intake manifold, work on it, then just swap it for your 2g.

That involves a hea swap.

To properly port a intake mani, you need real real small arms and tiny tools. Kinda curvy.

Did you even read mine? I made it relatively clear I knew how to port the O2 and Exhaust Manifold. Just not the intake...
