Hey guys,


So I ported my 14b using the 7cm gasket as a guide line. And I was wondering if I should do the same with my exhaust manifold. I have no clue on flow dynamics so I don't know how to go about this. Could someone post up a picture of a ported 2g exhaust mani? I don't know how to port the runners for the best flow.

Just port match the outlet of the mani, and just smooth the inside of the runners. Since porting the runners won't make a difference as your outlets on the engine arent bigger. Just smooth the runners out, and port match the outlet and call it a day. I noticed a deeper tone increase when I did that to my mani.
 
Alright will do. Thanks bud. I probably couldn't port the runners any way. Couldn't fit the dremel inside. What about the little half wall at the end? It's like a scroll or whatever you call it. Should I port that down or is it there for a purpose?

I would, at most, knife edge it. But, in this case, leave the half wall as is. The purpose of the half wall at the collector of the manifold is to keep the exhaust pulses from interfering with each other.

This porting subject has been discussed on this forum many times. The concensus seems to be that if you have a 6cm turbine housing and a 6cm outlet exhaust manifold, use a gasket and sealing ring, just like the stock setup. And, if your using a 7cm turbine housing and a 7cm outlet exhaust manifold, use a gasket and sealing ring, just like the stock EVO3 setup. Hopes this saves you, and others, some time and money.
 
Don't forget to port out the wastegate inlet for a smoother flow pattern. On the flapper side revoke the ridge that surrounds the wastegate. Doing those two things will help lower you boost creep.


Gasket match the exhaust manifold at the collector side. You can leave the head side alone.
 
Yeahh ive read a debate whether it was a good idea to port the wall down or leave it. Its simple actually now that I think about it. Gases will run into eachother and thats no good. Thanks i will just keep it.

And how much do you think its safe to port out of the wastegate hole before i run into trouble with gases leaking past the flapper? I already ported where the flapper arm is so it opens more to prevent creep.

I'm not talking about the divider wall. There is a lip/ridge along the wall in a 360* circumference on the wastegate side of the wastegate port. Thaw the ridge you want to port down. If this is a used housing then you will see a white/gray line where the exhaust hits the wall and then bounces back towards the wastegate hole because of the lip.

You don't need to port behind the flapper arm as it only opens just over 45* and no more on the stock actuator. You need to port out the inlet ridge, not the hole itself.

If you look down into the turbine inlet there is a large bump over the wastegate, that is what you remove. You need to search to get the pictures and proper techniques that vie been talking about.
