Hey guys need a little advice. Just picked up a 1992 awd talon with .60 over motor 272's fmic 20gturbo. Aeromotive regulator, 550's 2g maf, 1g bov, walbro 255. Socketed eprom ecu.
Ive been logging using emulator and mmcd. I can tell my car is untuned. Need to get fuel trims in order, getting false knock at part throttle around 2k rpms. Ive set all my sensors, tps, base timing etc. Have no boost leaks and am ready to start tuning. What should i use? Is dsm link needed, can i have someone burn me a eprom chip. Whats the best option on a budget?

Wait, .060 over? That makes me more than a little uncomfortable knowing just how little material there is in between cylinders. I'd be worried about cracking a cylinder. Are you sure it isn't something more like .020 or .040 over?

Also, there are a host of tuning options, especially for the 1G. Do some research on what you like best, and what fits your budget/wants. People are going to give their biased opinions here and not legitimate advice so start doing some searching and ask questions to people with all kinds of different tuning solutions to see what you like best. There is the Moates Ostrich 2.0, ECMLink of course, Megasquirt(a standalone ECU is beyond you..but for sake of knowledge I threw it out there anyway), you can even swap to an Evo 8 ECU with relative ease and the price wouldn't be too bad considering you get a decent deal.

Don't buy into the "ECMLink is the best!" hype. It's certainly got a lot of support which comes in handy for newbies, but there are cheaper options that do the job just as well with a lot more flexibility and power, but it's not going to be spoon-fed to you on a silver platter. You're going to need hair on your chest and a little bit of "do it yourself".

Ill double check the paperwork that came with the car. Came with buildsheet and mostly all the reciepts from the passed 6years. I thought i read .060 over but now that im thinking bout it, i could be wrong.

You will need some bigger injectors to really get the most out of that 20g. DSM link is great (I don't have it) but a custom eprom chip and an safc will get you going pretty good.
