DSMlink is for me....right?

Well after reading the opinion on dsmlink thread I kind of saw a fine line in there.

Lets say this,

im building a fully built engine. rods, pistons, fully done head, built trans, probly something like a 56 trim turbo blah blah blah.

The car will put down a lot of power.

Im not trying to be king dsm drag racer and beat shepards records or anything but the car should be capable of doing 10's at least with a capable driver on pump gas.

Now with that in mind, is dsmlink an able platform for this?

Im not pro tuner here, infact im pretty noob when it comes to tuning non carb cars. I dont want 50 thousand options like a standalone has that I have to play with for days just to get it so I can drive it down the street, or blow up my entire engine if I setup something wrong.

DSMlink seems very noob friendly and capable of quite a few things. I will have it on my car before I do the engine swap so I can play with it and learn but thats about it.

I dont like how if my battery goes out I have to reprogram the car but I have a laptop so its not that big a deal (unless it dies and im at the mall or something without the laptop )

Sounds like a good idea to me and just get a wideband setup with it. Anyone disagree or recommend something else?

I don't see any reason for you not to get a DSMlink, it should work just fine.

DSMlink has gone 9's, I think it will be ok for you.

yes dsmlink would be best for you...You wanna run 10s at least eh? That sir is not very easy for a 2g especially for a noob as you have stated but if you got the money i guess anything is possible. Good luck running at least in the 10s..

Well im a noob in some areas, and definately not in others.

I learn fast and reading up how to tune with link seems like a peice of cake, so I shouldnt have a problem.

Yes 10's is hard but I know someone with a somewhat similar build compared to mine doing 10.8's pump gas full interior (even the spare) and not launching great because his tranny isnt that built. and hes only running 19 psi because his fuel is maxed out. he will run 25psi when he upgrades.

so its not that impossible....if you feel like throwing 8k down on the car .



but back on topic thanks for the replies guys. Im gonna order link once I get wideband figured out which I think I do, just waiting on a reply from you mark.

Make sure to pick a wideband that you can log with DSMLink if you haven't purchased one already. You'll thank yourself later

Ummm, a 10.8 on pump? That is not easy at all. You will be putting some serious tuning into a car running pump and trying to get it into the 10's, especially full weight. Sure that wasn't in the 1/8th?
