Is dsmlink out for the 1g yet?

Just wanted to know the status of dsmlink for a 1g

why would you only sell it to current members? isnt that kind of stupid. Also isnt it kinda stupid that there forums are not public. Id really like to read into some information on the Link but i can cuase i never bought it for my 2G??? cmon, then need to update there site or something...

There is PLENTY on information available on the 1g DSMLink, all you have to do is read some of the threads about it that already exist.

The forums are for customers only.

People who purchase it get access, not such a big deal.

id just like some hard information about it and if it is gonna do what i want to do or if i should just go get an ems


as for the forums look @ the AEM forums you can get into those and read up. I dont have and AEM EMS but i read and ask questions on there about the unit in thought that when i get it i wouldnt be totally clueless. I donno i think the should give some type of press release. I have read the other posts and i guess they dont go into detail enought about the unit

You *can* download all of the documentation from the dsmlink.com website.

For all practical purposes the 1g is the same as the 2g in terms of functionality.

There are a couple of 1g specific differences, but they have no effect on the feature set or operation.

uh, no you don't need this.

If your air metering and fuel delivery system is operating properly, the ecu can manage fuel trims (it's called closed loop operation) using the o2 sensor.

Fuel trims are not meaningfull except while in closed loop operation.

At wide open throttle, again, assuming your air metering and fuel delivery system is working properly, the ecu can supply the appropriate amount of fuel regardless of rpm or load based on observed airflow.

It works perfectly well for 100's of DSMLink owners with cars ranging from stock turbo to 9 second drag cars.

Going to head on over to the site, and see whats going on. I was looking into an AEM box, and just purchased a new laptop. Anyone actually have any facts about this, and its progress?

Hopefully I can "save" yet another dsmer from spending 1000's of dollars on "worthless" ecu mods.

Really?

You may be able to adjust settings, but you are still stuck the the poor logging capabilites of the oem ecu.

Kind of hard to tune "on the fly", what do you do, pull over a burn a new eprom on the side of the road?

Burning eproms isn't for everyone.

Every time you open that ecu, you risk damage from ESD, not to mention potential physical damage pulling that chip in and out.

Who supports you when you have problems?

How much money are you really going to save, after all you need a laptop, an eprom ecu, just like DSMLink... but you also need a burner which is an additional cost.

Now, if you use the Palm client for DSMLink, you don't need a laptop. This makes your chip burning solution MORE expensive than DSMLink.

If you want to crow about burning eproms, start your own thread... it's off topic in this one.
