Hey guys, i know this is a DSM site but my brother bought a 05 subaru sti (i told him to get a gsx or tsi) and wants to get an external BOV. He is looking for the blow off valve that makes a whistle sound, kinda sounds like a tweety bird. I was told that Tial makes it but i want to make sure before he spends 200 bucks. Thanks!

I believe HKS makes a whistle type sound also.

Hks SSQV is the one that make the more profound whistle noise. Tail is one of the best out there, but the sound is more like an rfl or just a loud whoosh or psshhh.

I wouldnt say HKS IS the best but one of the best. Tial, HKS, GReddy all make very good BOV's its really just personal preference to sound. HKS def. has a distinct sound though which your brother seems like hes looking for.

go listen to some greddy type-s sound clips and His mind will be made up!

The greddy blow off valves have a tendency to leak because they use a rubber seal inside. Hks leaks too but at higher pressure. I've never heard of anyone having a leaking tial bov but the drawback is they are vented only. Tial does make a recirculated one but its somewhat big and is bong-like.

I've been running the Blitz for the longest time. It's not a very popular bov but it's loud as sh*t and whistles real nice at around 10-15 psi. Once you hit 20+ it's just a loud a*s pshh. haha.

The Real HKS SSQV all the way I love mine. Its the best for any setup you throw at it. it never leaks under idle or high boost and supra guys love them as well because they can handle their massive psi setup's. Plus you never have to adjust it in any way just throw it and go!

Does he realize that dumping the BOV on the STi will cause the same stalling and idling issues that dumping the BOV on a DSM will?

Perhaps he shouldn't worry about what sound his car is making when he lets off the freakin' accelerator and look into other, more useful ricer mods....like this new prototype exhaust for Subies:

Hahaha, I gotta show that to my ricer subi friends.... For the OP, I think you can already tell for yourself that the HKS is a good BOV that has the sound that your looking for. Good Buy.:thumb:
