so tonight i was driving home from work and got off the highway into town. i noticed my check engine light came on and my car was running hot. bout 3/4 of the way to the red. got home and checked oil, its good. overflow tank was about half full. i have no idea what to check or look for. the car is modified. head studs, 16g turbo, 1000cc injectors, 3" turbo back exhaust, 21lb boost, ect, ect. i was gonna plug in the dsm link tomorrow and see if it shows any codes. when i ran the laptop before, the temp is running about 200 (thats wth the gauge at half point, the normal operating temp on my car since i've owned it). is the CEL coming on because of high temp? every once in awhile before tonight i have had the CEL come on for about a second or so if i was running below 3k rpm and went to full throttle, but when i would go onto the link it never showed any engine codes. im kinda stumped and this is my DD. like i said there are no coolant leaks, oil level was good and seemed clean (not milky or contaminated looking). i hope its not a head gasket... any help ASAP would be appreciated guys! im gonna pull the overflow tank tomorrow in the daylight and see what the coolant looks like..oil ect...it was changed less than 15k miles ago. again any ideas and what to look for or test out would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance!

Check under the DASH tab on Link to see if the CEL comes on when it sees knock or etc. If the oil & coolant look good you should be good. Have you tried running it again to see if it overheats?
