okay so just to clarrify this, as far as prepping the car goes, just make sure its clean and dry before you spray the car? im really thinking about spraying my spoiler and the hood since the hood has really bad swirl marks. i cant really wash the car with a hose right now beacuse its posted up on one of the lifts at work but i think a damp paper towel would work well enough to get all the dirt off of it. Let me know what you think so i can freshen up the look of my car :D

Same here. I want to do my hood because it's got a lot of wear and tear marks. But I don't want it to look like a primer hood on a black car.

I guess we can just peel it off if we dont like it?

the lip is just the stuff at lowes, the roll of strip for the bottom of a garage door, I found the thread on here, it's like 10 bucks, you just drill holes and nut and bolt

peel the tape while everythings still wet, that way it doesnt stick. I didnt even prep my roof rails, I sprayed and prayed, and it looks and feels good. I dont know about a whole car, but I might try it.

I'm considering doing this as well as my Talon is black and sun spotted all over. I'm not sure if I want to have it flat, so does anyone know if the plasti clear is the same material or should I attempt a clear with a real paint base clear coat?

Question for the ones that have done it:
What did you guys use to tape off the area? I tried this on a spare light with some masking tape and the dip sticked to the tape when I pulled it off.

Peel the tape while it's wet or else the plastidip will peel from the part and shred everything to shit. I made that mistake on the driver side window and had to repaint part of the trim.

Looks great. I'm deffintley going to use this stuff. Thanks for all the info

This is how my Rx7 wheel turned out not bad. Now I gotta see how they look on my ride.

about how many cans did you use to spray the whole car? And how many coats do you spray on, and how much time do you wait inbetween each coat?

I am goin to try it on my hood first and see how it turns out then slowly start painting each panel

Just wanted to say that this stuff seems to be holding up under the hood. I sprayed my cheap aluminum strut bar with about 4 coats and it's holding up great. It lost a bit of the "sticky" feel and is pretty smooth now.

well i went to homedepot today and cleaned them out of all their sprayable black plasti dip! haha suckers! came out to 5.99 a can and i ended up grabbing all 6 cans they had. Sprayed my hood today since it is the most damaged(paint wise) part on my car. Only got around to spraying 2 coats on but so far so good, will see what it looks like after sitting for 10+ hours. About 2 pretty decent coats i was able to get out of a can, there is still some left in the first can i started on. Excited to see how this turns out!! I will post pictures after the next coat or so.

Also, do you recomend spraying 2 coats, 3 coats, 4 coats?? the can says 3-4 coats but everyone does it differently.

I've done one coat on my roof and hatch so far and it looks pretty good. Probably gonna do one more cause some chipped paint is showing through a bit.

And It took me like 3/4 of a can to do a bit over half my hood. How did you do two with some spare or am I spraying pretty thick?

I finished up my hood today, ended up doing about 4 decent coats, and then about 3 more lights coats since i had a couple paint chips so i wanted to fill it in as best as i could.

Here is a pic of my hood on my car, dont mind the rest of the car, its so damn dirty!!

I am in the process of doing my wing and fuel door atm. Will be doing the hatch tomorrow and hopefully have the car completely done within the next week or so!

I'm liking this plastidip stuff :thumb: I coated those plastic covers at the bottom of my door jam, they came out really well.

Has anyone plastidipped their interior pieces?? im talking about the plastic trim pieces around the doors and all in the trunk, ect ect.

Did you not notice the picture I posted right above your post? It seems to work great on interior plastic pieces, gives it a much cleaner look and sticks very well to the plastic.
