I was just wondering if theres a specific wear measurement for pivot ball?? I have my tranny out and wanted to make sure it's the right height or ill shim it..The tranny is going back in today so buying a new one on the weekend is a no.

Thanks

This is with a brand new act2600, streetlite flywheel, street disk, new fork, and new tob...

I don't have a spec for you but I can say that I have researched this topic extensively and I know many times I have ran acrossed the advice to NOT shim the pivot ball at all if it goes back together with all new components. Which it looks like you will be. Wish I had a link for you. I will see if I can find one quick.

^+1 I agree. There's no spec and it's different for every case. I replaced the PP, disc, to bearing, pivot ball, and fork all with factory parts and it still needed shimming. And after market parts are never exactly the same as factory. Also after market flywheels may have a different thickness to the PP or if your flywheel was resurfaced that distance (to the PP) is now less so the PP is now closer to the engine which changes where the fork rides (so the protruding fork end is then farther away from the engine in the fork window in bell housing) and so shimming would be necessary. Another place of wear is not so much the pivot ball but where it rides (pivots) in the fork (fork wears there) which is why a new fork and/or shimming may be necessary.

I know how to shim it, I was just wondering if anyone new the height of a 'stock' pivot ball..

With all new clutch components in your car, companies tell us to just replace the pivot ball every time the tranny is out, If I only new the distance with vernier calipers from the top of the ball, to the bottom of where it rests against the bell housing (not the bottom of the threads, the top of the threads)..Then I could just shim my used one to be what it is stock, make sense? Im sure with all new clutch components all the way to the master, It would be fine with a little pedal adjustment, thanks.

I think you missed everything luv2rallye just said. It varies from car to car. I doubt anyone will be able to give you the measurements you are looking for because thats not how you are suppose determine if shimming is needed. Follow the RRE link.

Shimming your pivot ball is not for everybody, I dont need to shim it to correct the way my fork sits left to right and Ive seen that RRE link a long time ago, I just wanted to know If I needed to replace my pivot ball because they do get worn out, I found out today by the dealer a stock pivot ball is 36.5mm tall so I measured mine and it was 36mm..So im sure my pivot ball which is close to stock height, a new fork, and an oem TOB will function just fine like stock. Also it was saturday night when I asked this question because the dealers were closed and I needed this done by Sunday :(, so if say my pivot ball was 35mm, I would have shimmed it to stock height at least as I didnt have time to mount my tranny just to see, drop back down and re-adjust.

thanks for the help though.
