Do something about that air breather off the valve cover. Buy a Husky at Home Depot and use that instead.

Good link, DSMunkown. This looks like it could be a nice alternative to the fuel filter that I am currently using as a catch-can and have to periodically replace.:thumb:

I shouldn't be credited with this find. Bruce Almighty is the man behind this. (Look through this page and you'll see what I mean.) I also followed this link using Google. I had a hard time finding this at Home Depot. (No one knew what I was talking about. I found out that I had to look through the section where the air compressor accessories could be found, and there it was.) If anyone is wondering, here are two codes you can search for to find this item:
  • HDA70400AV
  • 100027474
Anyways, I highly recommend taking off the filter. Here are a few photos I loaded up.

This first photo shows the "air compressor filter" in its entirety, with the addition of two quarter inch fittings.

This next photo illustrates the disassembly (after I took the filter off and out). I recommend you also do the same. There is no need whatsoever to have it; it will hold the possibility of clogging up.

How I have my filter on now. So far, so good.

I paid around 11 bucks for the Husky filter, and about $1.50 for each fitting. Pretty cheap, I'd say. But most importantly, it's effective.

You can also find a similar part at Lowe's. Go to the site and search any of these part codes.

You can see one couple other threads about this catch can here and here.

When I asked oldman if there was any advantage of using the Husky catch can versus a traditional more expensive catch can, this was his answer:

As long as the catch can is not vented to atmospere, no, except the fact you will get slightly better filtration with the linked catch can. They're both catch cans, one is just bigger (and bling bling) but empty (which relies on gravity alone for filtrations) and the other us smaller but with built in filter element.

So he thinks the filter should be left in.
