Well here is the low down on those spacers, They Will give you an increase in power but just like 2.4L hyped said it wont be much becuase of the underhood heat anyways.... So i came to the conclusion that if your running a general street car then dont bother... but if your John shephard or someone who has mad cash and doesnt care where the next dollar is going to go, go ahead i mean it couldnt hurt to try something new.... you may be able to run a .001th quicker than last time LOL :D
p.s i think most guys quicker than 10secs do use them so they may know something that we dont or they couldve been sucked into the hype just like everyone else who knows

I always wondered if the majority of the heat in the throttle body/intake manifold was transfered from the throttle body coolant lines or from the head?

Underhood heat affects everything. There is no escaping it. I doubt the spacer would make a big difference whatsoever. Prove me wrong. Sean
Yea I agree Sean. Thanks for bringing that up. If the head temp doesnt heat up the intake the underhood heat will. I also agree its a complete waist of money on a street car but on a drag only car it may help were the underhood temp doesnt get as hot as a street car. Its funny the dyno testing they do on these spacers is with the hood open and the enigine at operating temp but they dont test it in a "real world" situation with a closed hood. I bet the results would be the same once they closed the hood and beat on it on the street a few times and then dyno tested it. There is always a catch 22 you need to look out for. Thanks again for your thoughts on this.

Tried searching but to no avail, I know everyone says ebay stuff is junk but let's hear it.

I've been looking around on ebay and oftern these spacers come up:

Phenolic Intake Spacer:

TB Flanges:

Anyways I've never heard of Phenolic (they claim its NASA wizardry material) and would assume these products to do nothing but delay heat transfer. This is just my assumption but wanted someone more knowledgeable than me to set it straight and let me know if they actually do anything in perfomance gain as I'm about to put a 1g JDM intake and 60mm TB on my 2g and thought that these might add to those gains. Anyone running both of these or either, do they work?

These have been around a while. All they do is insulate the intake manifold from the head keeping the intake/air slightly cooler. I'll be running one when I pickup an aftermarket manifold.

BTW.. 122Performance and Magnus Motorsports both sell them, so must work ;) :dsm:

I just ordered the magnus one for my new jm fab intake.I like the idea it replaces the original gasket completely.

I was definately going to go with the intake manifold gasket from SBR but I wanted to know if you just use the gasket by itself or if you need to use like copper spray or silicon on the gasket as well. When I first put my stock intake manifold on I used just the stock metal gasket. Now that leaks big time...I've decided to give this one a try but just needed to know if you need to use anything else on the gasket itself before putting it on.

I'm looking to put a 1g intake and TB on my 2G. Which gasket should I use the 1g or the 2g? Also I found another "Brand" on ebay:

1G gasket:

2G gasket:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1,1&item=8038988988&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT

Here's what I emailed them:
What material is this power gasket made out of? I will be running a 1g intake manifold on a 2g motor, which gasket should I but or are they the same? What kind of temperature reduction should I get from using a single gasket? When installing do you adhere it with hi-temp silicone or is it self sealing?

Here's what they responded:
Our gasket material is a trade secret. I am not sure about which gasket you should use. You should ask someone who is experienced with the swap. The gaskets are not the same, the 1g gasket has larger ports. You should not need any sealant as long as you clean all mating surfaces very well before installing.

They won't tell me what its made of, but it does have a money back warranty, but... then I have to install it to see if it works.

Also any thoughts on the throttle body extension flange?

Is your 2g head ported to match the 1g gasket (if so use the 1g gasket) if no, then why the hell are you running a 1g intake mani on a 2g head?

The 1g manifolds flow better, do they not? In actuality I wanted to upgrade to a 60mm TB and looking at some old posts, it appeared that the 1g intake flowed better so I thought to get them both. Is this not correct?

If not I was just going to bore my stocker opening so that there is no impedeance to flow after the larger TB.

We actually had a local guy test these things out and on back to back runs (with a 30 second cool down time between), he made 0 more hp and 0 more torque. That's not to say it doesn't work but the gains are obviously to small to be recorded on a dyno.

I'm not bashing it at all, I just won't shell out my money. :thumb:

They do flow better, but that is because the runners are larger. This would be useless because the ports on the 2g head are so small. Just bore the TB flange to 60mm.

Good find man everybody else sells them for 40 bucks, plus I needed to order some gaskets and stuff and they had everything I needed.

The guy from Ebay never sent mine out and I FINALLY got my money back after some time afterwards. I'd do it right once and go Magnus. Untill they are proven junk by some other vendor :D
