Having a hard time installing the lower control arm back up. After the axle install, the lower control arm don't want to reach all the way to the mounting brackets. Its like its been cut short. (the one underneath the tranny)

Just give you an idea what i have done...

Removed the axles without removing the ball joints (removed the two lower control arms) and now trying to put it back in.

I thought i would get away with just removing the lower control arm and not having to deal with slippery ball joints. But, i have spend about 2-3hrs now trying to figure out how it come short. Any ideas how i need to deal with this?

There's no reason I can think of that would make it not go back into place. There's no way it could have gotten shorter.LOL Have you tightened the axle nut all the way so that the axle is all the way seated against the hub? That's the only thing I can think of that wouldn't allow you to get the control arm all the way back where it needs to be. Maybe you will have to seperate the ball joints after all to get it back together.

Tried to separate the ball joints but, the joints don't want to come out. Hammered it a few times form top and it won't budge. Look like i might need to get the ball joint separator tool to get it out. I don't think i want to go that route. However, i am going to try to install the axle in the hub, connect all the lower control arms and leave the axle out form the transmission side. After that i am going to try to put the axle back in to the transmission tomorrow.

According to part store replacement specifications, the compressed length should be 25 1/4".

A Google Search said:
To measure the compressed length, start by placing the axle with the Inboard Joint down on a flat surface with the Outboard Joint in the air. While holding the Outboard Joint, push down to compress the axle to it's shortest length. Be sure to keep the assembly straight.

Thanks man, thats what i am looking for. And hopefully i can get this issue with the axle figured out. when ever the axle is in the bearing hub, i cannot get the lower control arm back in the transmission. i worked on this for 3 days now and i can't figure out what the heck the problem is.
