I have tried everything to get the passenger side front axle out of the tranny. I'm not even sure I'm doing it right anymore because it won't budge. I have broken a prybar, a screwdriver, and scraped off most of the material on the little ledges on the green axle cup that I was prying against.

It is stuck in the hub as well. I destroyed the castle bolt trying to hammer the axle out of the hub, now it is pretty much fused to the axle, and the axle is still on the hub.
:ohdamn::ohdamn::ohdamn::ohdamn::ohdamn:

Stupid pos, any suggestions?

If you got the driver's side out, why not pop it out through that side using a screwdriver. Theres a shaft in between but theres enough room to get around them and get that O ring to pop out.

It's going to be tough with the axle still seated in both sides though. I'd try getting it out of the hub first to take pressure off of pushing it back into the transmission.

if you just need to pull the axle to do a trans than you can just loosen your lower balljoint, and pop the one end out of the transmission and swing away your hub with the seazed axle in the bearing still.

If you need to remove the axle, you might have to heat the wheelbearing with a torch and hammer, best thing to get it out of the hub is to use a good airhammer and some good shop air.

I don't care it it stays on the hub, I just need it out of the trans. I disconnected the ball joints before even trying to pry it from the trans.

Okay, a 5lb sledge got the axle out of the hub. I had to hit it so hard I cracked the axle nut :rocks:

...and the axle still will not budge at all from the trans. I think I might just take the CV joint apart that is closest to the trans, but I'm not sure that will leave enough clearance from the body to pull the engine and trans out the top.

Can the trans be pulled with the axle cup still inside?

Get your self a Pickle Fork for the Transmission. My Axle would not come out either, I did all of the same stuff you just said. But once I used a Pickle Fork/Ball Joint Seperator it poped right out. As for the Hub, I would recommend some WD-40, PB Blaster and a sledge. You are goign to need to let that stuff soak in for a little before you beat the piss out of it.

Did you drop the suspension? So that you can pull the hub away from the car?

Also it might be hard to get that pickle fork up in there with the trans still on the car.

Good Luck.

On a 1G you can drop it out the bottom with the axle still attached if you pull the crossmember. I have my extra tranny sitting here with the same problem as we speak. :cry:

The plan is to pull the engine and trans together out the top. I suppose they could be separated before and the trans dropped and the engine pulled, but I'd rather do it the easy way.

I'm unable to find a pickle fork large enough for the axle cup, that's pretty damn big for a ball-joint seperator
