Palm OS Emulator/Mmcd

Ok, I have both of them downloaded onto my laptop, and I'm trying to run the program. I have everything connected properly, or so I think, but nothing is working. I have the datalogging cable running into the DB9 on the back of my laptop, could that be where I'm wrong? I have the settings run from the serial port 1 but it's still not working, help!

EDIT: Perhaps it would have been best if I got a Null Modem adapter instead of the gender adapter I got?

Ok, now that I have the null adapter, it still isn't working. Can someone, PLEASE help me? My car is running horrible, and I need to know what is up!
