I decided i wanted to paint my rims and i've been outside stripping the one rim with sandpaper first. Wanted to know if i should strip the entire thing till it gets shiny and then throw on the primer or just sand it to get it rough and then prime it? Thanks

Ray

I just did this to all of my rims. I just took them off sanded them a little then cleaned them off with a wet rag then a dry rag and let them dry in the sun for about 10 minutes. I then taped them up cause I wanted a polished lip, made it nice a pretty then used clear wrap to put around the tire itself and secured it with the tape I used. Then I sprayed it with Engine Enamal Sem-gloss paint, did 2 coats. Let it dry fora bout 10 minutes then sprayed it with Engine Enaml Clear Gloss and then let it dry for 2 hours and i have to say it looks really nice!

I didnt strip is down and I only sanded it using 200 Grit paper and it still worked fine

I used some scuff pads and mine turned out great. Use Krylon paint hou it lasts the longest and is strong. Look in my gallery for pics

Mine are more glossy looking then his but I dont have any pictures sorry. As for the black on a white car, I think the best would be to have a polished lip with black/gunmetal inside part. Those look the best on a white car I think.

yeah thats what i was thinking...
do you think you can get gunmetal paint like the black paint you got for you rims ?
