Painting a CF hood

I have no idea! I was just going to get dupont paint and any sort of sprayer that I could find. I have never painted something like this before, so I don't even know where to start. I was thinking dupont paint in the r87 red, which is my cars factory color code (not the talon in my profile).

Well, don't paint down, unless you have a gun with a canister on top... Make sure that the surface is rough enough for paint to stick to, but not so rough you could go offroading. It would be best to like... hang the Hood against a masked wall by the hook, highest poing of the hood should be about where your nose is... so your not stressing yourself out... hold the gun 6-12" from the hood and spray in even lines... It may be cool n all, but just take your time. It might not be fully red on the first coat, and thats completely fine!, if you try to make it completely red, most likely you'll get runny spots. And only way to fix the runs, is to let it completely dry/cure, and sand it down. Let dry, and then sand with a fine sand paper. Spray on another coat. Sand Again. Spray on another coat, and it should look gorgeous right now. Some people say sand down the base coat, and then clear over it... I never did and it worked for me. I let the basecoat sit for half the dry time, so it doesn't fully dry, but is a little sticky, don't touch! LOL and then go over with a coat of clear... then let dry before adding another coat.

I'll be painting my CF Fenders, Doors and Hood with custom tear away graphics including the colors Chrome and Jet Black. The chrome is going to be the tear... the jet black will be the color thats being torn off, and the CF will represent the actual body of the car. Should be a fun project since I dont know anyone who can mask Tear Away Graphics...
