Hey, all! Hope everyone is doing well out there!
I've been grinding between work jobs and the extreme heat to push to get this thing ready for the shootout.
Motor and trans mated, back in the car! I've been working on a bunch of supporting projects and small details while waiting for parts.
Sucks to see RTM getting out of the game...I've been ordering parts off the other site supporting vendors.

Since I'm waiting to eventually upgrade to the aluminum DSS unit I didn't go all out and have this powdercoated, it still turned out better than the submarine shaft that it once was 🤣
Fresh HD U-joints from Japan GMB brand ($10/piece from rock auto) new OE carrier bearings with the air space filled about 70% with eurethane to allow for for some movement. Yes, I know, It may be awful and should have used silicone, we'll see. It has every single polyurethane mount available so she's going to be buzzy no matter what. Lol

@92AWDHX40 stopping by a couple times on his way to/from visiting family. Nice to see and meet you, Vic!

Have you went to buy a conventional battery lately? The prices are insane! There was only one choice at this point and it was to get a low/slim mount Odyssey for the Talon.

I really wanted badly to use the stock AC button to be able to manually hit the fans and I made it work! Just under the fan relay I was able to tap into the G/B wire and use the AC switch as a grounding switch, and voila!

All the guages and radio delete lined up really well and I've been enjoying them.

There wasn't a nipple on the charge/J pipe so with the suggestion of others on here I drilled, tapped, and added a boost source straight to the compressor housing to minimize plumbing to the wastgate. Bam!

Hey man I just went thru your whole build and have to say CONGRATS! Such a beautiful car and an awesome build! Very inspiring, my car had an evo3 16g when I got it 10years ago and man, even at altitude with a stock motor/cams intake/throttle body on e85 with lots of timing the car RIPPED LOL. You won’t be disappointed, the only downside to such a small fast spooling turbo is cruising in 5th gear you have to pedal it at times to keep the car from just taking off LOL

Oh no shit! Hell yeah, man thats awesome you checked it out and I appreciate the kind words!

Ohhhh, you're getting me stoked hearing that about the E85 on the 16G! Can't wait! That's a big deal, creating something that's streetability focused so you maximize the seat time and ripping around!

LOL. Man, I sure could use help with a tune, just using the Evo8 mod 1 file now. She still needs some work but it's getting there! Another one back on the road that was about to be parted out!

Heck yeah:hellyeah:, I was also on the Evo8 modified map LOL, the car seemed to like it, back then I was still on a 2g maf, and just ramped up the timing sliders not really knowing what I was doing LOL. Luckily I never blew the motor, but I just remember the night and day difference going from 91 to e85, super fun set up.

Haha, nice! Seems like a great place to start.
LoLOL, throwing caution to the wind. The 4G is a tough little bastard, that's for sure. The PO beat that motor untuned for 100k and the cylinders were still in spec, the machinist couldn't believe it. Lol.
Helllll yes, can't wait! Need to find some 1200 injectors asap!

Mwn i remember that climb up that mountainous of turns and dips whew I was nervous looks good man ull see you with mine next year gonna be a blast at the shootout.

After wrestling with the brand new POS Megan 3" stainless exhaust with the awful flanges that didn't fit worth a crap, and bent into the driveshaft I gave up and enlisted the help of a local fabricator.
We cut the flanges off, added V band clamps, tucked it up as best as we could, and added the vibrant street performance muffler. It turned out perfect! Nice deep tone with both resonators taking out the rasp.

Just driving it when I can! Getting closer to 500 miles!

Finally got caught up on the build since i seen you posting about driving the car. Congrats it's an amazing feeling. My E316 on e85 was my favorite turbo setup to date. Once you get it all dialed in it just makes you grin ear to ear when you get to drive it. I at times still debate on going back down to a 16g style turbo or back to my garrett series turbos since they also had amazing characteristics. If you need any help feel free to shoot me a PM

Man, that is super cool. Thanks for following along and checking out the build! I've been enjoying following yours as well! Haha, you're right, it is an amazing feeling all around.
I really value your opinion on the 16G and E85! It really does seem like an unbeatable combo for an enjoyable driving street car. After the new injectors and E85, that's probably all the further I'll take this combo as I'd like to keep it from blowing apart by adding big power parts, and continue to drive it.

I'll hit you up with a PM here, soon!

Thanks!

Pump gas, auto, semi-blown HG due to terribly uneven block deck surface, and eBay 16G on my old 1G Auto AWD made enough steam to trap in the 90's in the 1/8th. Again, this was everything working against me, and the tune was far from ideal.

Solid setup, full compression all around, E85, and authentic MHI 16G and it will absolutely rip. And nothing beats the torque hit of the 16G. I adored it. It put the gap on a lot of faster cars simply because of the torque hit, and how easy it was to get traction.

Also: I recognize that road! My wife went to college in Collegedale, and we'd routinely drive the backroads of Chattanooga to go back there. I remember discovering that road on accident and thinking how nice it'd be to take my DSM down it. Good times.

How’s the car running Rob? Driving it much? Just went through your build again. Giving me some much needed inspiration again. I really need to wrap some other crap up and get back to mine.

Whats up, Chad!
I haven't checked in on your build in a while, what's new? Hell yeah, keep it going! Getting started can be half the battle. Once you get going maybe you'll build some momentum!

I ended up putting about 2.5 years worth of ripping arpund on the ole gal and fine tuning some things, new wheels...etc. It never let me down or left me stranded, which was the goal, build a tight, well running, reliable DSM. The local Subaru club hated when the 34 year old DSM would whip their STi asses through the mountains, but they secretly enjoyed the car, I think...haha. I had a bug to sell it as I stopped driving it and needed a van for work. So a super cool OG DSM'r (Joe) from Iowa came out and DROVE it 12 hours straight home! LOL.

I'll post up some links to final vids for you to check it out and close out the build. Ive been eyeing up some Galant VR4's in the meantime! Headed over to see what you've been into!

Oh damn I didn’t know you sold it. Glad you got to enjoy it, though! She sounded awful happy in those videos… Those roads remind me of back roads in Maine, great for cruises.
Yeah, once I got enough of the paint work done and it’s time to start putting stuff back in a bunch of stuff has come up that’s had me occupied, and probably a little intimidation factor of what comes next set into. Fixing to get back to it soon, hopefully.
