This has been a fun project and I'm really excited to actually start building it back together.
Welded a nut onto the end of the clutch master clevis, assembled/bolted all the cables onto the firewall, hooked all the pedals up...etc.

Buttoned up most of the wiring including some fatty 4ga from the alternator alllll the way over to the battery, approximately 10 foot! 100A fusible link with anticipation of at least the Galant 90A alternator to start.
High amp relay and fuse holders on order for fan wiring..etc.

Time to bolt the subframes back in and run the 2 rear brake lines and rough in the fuel lines! Wahooo!

Over the last 2 evenings I kicked it into high gear and got all the bushings lubed up, installed the rack, stabilizer bar, and control arms and got everything torqued down

Attached the rear diff, mustache bar, bushings, and stuffed that pig in there all by myself. It's pretty amazing how well balanced both assemblies are. Just a floor jack and a couple planks, boom!

Fired up, son! 🤘🤘🤘

Hey, all! Hope everyone is doing good out there. Been lurking here and wrenching when I can.
Finally tore into the crusty old beast. Bores look amazing, even the machinist was surprised. You'd never guess by looking at the outside, she was a dirty bird! Lmao.
Koda Bear with the cameo and helping hand. Haha.

Cleaning up nicely! I just had the machinist hot tank the block, straighten the head and do a valve job. Cleaning up the pistons next. New rings and bearings for a freshie!

Picked up some crusty and slightly bent/small flat spot rims off Flea-bay. Had to see for myself if the big Outlander brakes were going to fit!
Took the rims a couple weeks ago to my wheel and powdercoat guy to have them blasted, fixed/straightened and powdercoated. I am so stoked to see how they turn out!!! Doing something a little different and can't wait to show you all. 🤘🤘

Hey, all! Hope you're doing well out there.

Stopped by Miller Import parts in Kannapolis, NC over the 4th while out seeing a buddy and snagged up a couple necessity items for the Talon. What a great resource!

20230703_110451.jpg

Finished running all the lines underneath and wouldn't you know it, the 2 braided lines from the rear fit just fine! Brakes all bled and 3G MC installed.

I saw @Silverspyder with the Hella horn upgrade and pulled the trigger on the same. Those stock horns had to go.

Bravo! Looks stunning.
Appreciate it, thanks, man!
I'm trying to keep it simple and reasonable while making it 100% drivable.
DOT 5.1 for that higher boiling point. Little motorcycle trick there instead of DOT 3 or 4.

Sneak peak on the freshie powdercoated OG 1GB rims with fresh Continental Extreme A/S rubber!
I plan to drive this car as much as possible, so that means A/S tires for now. Surely the safest bet once the weather turns cold.

Next year, Feal coilovers, 27mm offset 17x9 fatties with the sticky track rubber for autox and road course. Antique DSM style, baby!!!

We all need to plan a meetup at a midway point between all of us when all of our cars are running. Like Birmingham raceway or some kind of track, even if it's just a 1/8th mile one. Would be nice to meet everyone and enjoy a nice cruise with some drag racing mixed in. Mine is hopefully gonna be running soon as well.

Absolutely, let's do it! Looking forward to meeting up. People (who know what the cars are) will freak out, especially if there's more than 1 that show up. Haha!
Man, you're so close, now!

Stopped by Rix racing (one of the tuners site sponsors) and met Ricky. He's a really nice guy and has a hell of a DSM collection!

Anyway, I scooped up this custom aluminum oil pan and couldn't be more stoked! Extra capacity, sure, but the baffling and trap doors are what I'm most excited about! Hell yeah! This will be a nice addition with an accu-sump as well in the future. 🤘🤘

Hey, all. What are your thoughts on connecting up the oil port from the head (Stock turbo oil feed) and plumbing into the 6AN fitting on the pan? Or would that be too great of a pressure loss...hmmm. Otherwise I'll just cap it.

Just stumbled upon your build thread. Amazing work hope to see you at the shootout with the car. I'm trying to take mine as well this year.
Thanks, man! I appreciate the kind words. Glad to have you along for the build. I've been following your VR4 build, too. I'd love to own a Galant one day, they're really unique, and I love the stealth-ness about them.
Hell yeah, I'll definitely see ya there, one way or another!

Been following your comprehensive rebuild for a while. Love the fact that you are not afraid to tackle the work wherever it is needed.

As restorers of cars that see winter salt, we can relate to stuck bolts, rust fused joints and collapsed tubing. You’re doing a great job!

It is exciting to see your sweat result a beautiful DSM running and driving again.

Glad to have you along! It's the support that keeps us going when we hit the slow zone in projects. Being excited about a project certainly helps the momentum and overcoming issues, too. Haha. Appreciate the kind words!
There's something really special about these old rides.
Can't wait to get it back together and running here real soon!

Hey, all! More progress on the Talon. Waiting on customer jobs means free time to hustle and get this ole girl back together!

The new triple guage bezel from kuttzy.com showed up! Pumped about the look and angle the guages.

After a solid soak in Evapo Rust I rebuilt the thermostat housing, all new sensors, and re-sealed anything that would unscrew. Painted the raw steel nipples to keep corrosion at bay.

Stripped and cleaned the 90 OFH. I'm using the lower pressure Mirage spring since I deleted the balance shafts.

Had one of those aftermarket parts morning's when trying to bolt the ACL pump on. It didn’t fit without removing material from the pump bolt and a smidge off the block.

Refinishing bits and Pieces with some self etching primer, then high temp paint.

Non turbo water pipe, since I won't be feeding E3 16G coolant. I couldn't stand the aluminum paint it had on it, so I stripped it, self etching primer, then high temp enamel. Silly, but I think it's going to look real good and not stand out!
20230811_101907.jpg

Wired up the fans, we'll see how they work. Need to add a grounding switch to GB on Pin A40 for some manual switch action. Nothing special here. Haha
20230811_114439.jpg

Man, I swear it takes me forever to mess with the fuel lines, and I poke the SHIT outta my fingers in the process. Lol. FPR and E85 sensor mounted.
Oh well, that's done....for now.
