Hi, thanks for having me here. My English isn't great, but I've been an Eclipse fanatic for 25 years.

Regarding my problem:
I'm getting error code P1500 on my OBD scanner:
Vehicle Speed Sensor Intermittent
General alternator "FR" terminal circuit fault; Vehicle Speed Sensor Intermittent. Also, the SRS light on my dashboard is on. I installed a new alternator, but it didn't help—the errors are still there.

What should I do next? Does anyone have any ideas? I’d really appreciate it.

1997 Eclipse Spyder GS (4G64).

Could be. Also might be the reason SRS is ON, if you damaged the wiring to impact sensors or something in that harness. Check and read the manual, it will show you what's routed through a-32. That harness probably is very close to fender well and strut tower

Just an idea: what if I ran a bypass cable between connector 41 (control unit) and the alternator connector—just routing it externally and somehow splicing it into the connectors? Would that make sense? I wonder if the error might go away... hmmm.

I wanted to mention that, but when you told me your multimeter burned I didn't want to say that. You can always bypass and reroute things. Many mechanics at the shop do that. I never urge anyone to bastardize their harness. You can splice in to pin 41 and bring that circuit to pin 4- green like it's shown on the diagram, or you can just cut 41 a few inches away from the connector and solder a new bypass wire to pin 4 on the alternator. It's up to you.

I would personally wait for your new multimeter, just to double check everything prior to cutting your harness. If the harness got burned up somewhere after welding I would find and fix it. But that's just me.

I assume you mean ECU pin 41, not connector 41.

No, you need to figure out what the problem is first by doing tests before you start throwing fixes at it. Don't be like people who throw endless new parts at a problem hoping one will fix it. Not only is that a waste of money and time but the problem may not even be a bad part.

Mitsubishi states P1500 is "Generator FR terminal circuit malfunction" only - nothing else. {FYI: Note Mitsubishi's "generator" is what we call the "alt".} The Mitsubishi factory manual states the probable cause is A) Open circuit in generator FR terminal circuit or B) ECU failed.

So with key Off, first unplug the 4 wire alt connector and test continuity between the alt's green wire connector pin (alt "FR") and ECU pin 41. Make sure you test at the pins themselves. Also examine all pins for damage and to see if they are locked in place in the connector (so they don't recede when connector is pushed on). If ok, re-connect alt, turn key On and remeasure voltage at those 2 places to see if they are both identical. If ok, do the same this time with engine running.

Also measure voltage on alt white wire (alt "G") with engine idling. It must not be 0v.

Just a tidbit: Here on USA Eclipses, the Brake light goes on for both Parking brake and low brake fluid - don't know for European cars.
