I just need some direction and advice of what the issue might be.

ABout two months ago I was driving back from Firestone when the car shut off in mid pull. Happened to have my laptop with me and I was having a P0355 code. The infamous Crankshaft Malfunction code. I had it towed home and after a couple days of research I replaced he sensor. It worked perfect until today.

I was tweaking some values in ECMLink when I noticed an extra code in my DTC tab. I've had an O2 Sensor Heater Malfunction code for about a week now, but I noticed today I had the P0355 code AGAIN! The car was running fine but something triggered the code. I cleared the code out and idled/revved for another 10 mins or so, but it never popped up again.

My only concern is that the day the crankshaft sensor went out the first time, my ECU threw the P0355 code that morning while testing Anti-Lag/2 step and I cleared it. Then about 6 hours later while coming from Firestone it finally quit out.

So now I'm concerned that, if its NOT a coincidence and that there might be a bigger issue, if I drive around on it more that it will leave me stranded again.

When I first researched the problem two months ago I distinctively remember a post from someone that mentioned crankwalk. With the crank moving towards the sensor it will soon cut into the sensor and cause it to malfunction.

Other than measuring the movement of the crank, are there any other possible things that could cause a crank shaft position sensor malfunction code???

Thank you for reading my novel!

Why didn't you check the crank end play when you changed the sensor?

Didnt have the means to do so. And I'm not 100% sure how to. I know there a VFAQs, but I'm not comfortable that I'll measure it correctly and get a false measurement. I guess I have no choice this time and I'll see what I can do.
