A little over a month ago I was having an overheating issue in which the car was dumping boiling coolant into the overflow after long freeway drives and the car would just overheat on the highway after an hour of driving in 80+ degree weather. I’ve never had this issue in the city no matter how hot it is and I’ve never had this issue in the city or highway when it’s just flat out cold outside. I replaced the radiator cap and thermostat and everything was good after that but now I’m noticing that the car is overheating again when I am on the highway for an 1hr+ in 80+ degree weather. The coolant gauge tends to fluctuate up and down. Is it time for a better radiator and fan setup? Or do I just have a bad head gasket? My radiator is unknown and I am on stock fans. The car doesn’t overheat at standstills or in city driving. It cant be the rad cap or thermostat because I just replaced it. I did a compression test and got 152 across the board and there is not coolant in the oil. Only time I see whitish smoke coming out the exhaust is when it’s early in the morning and the car is burning off the water/condensation after startup. Any suggestions?

First make sure both fans turn on when engine is very hot and their shrouds are installed (AC should make drivers fan go on).

It may be that your radiator is just old and worn out or clogged up. First remove thermostat and try running a radiator flush with engine warmed up (follow auto store radiator flush can directions). Then manually flush with garden hose with water flowing first forward, then reverse by removing lower radiator hose and force water (wrap with towel to make seal) going up into radiator out the top, then top down, and then other direction from lower hose into engine - both a few times each. Then put thermostat back in and try it again. If this doesn't do it it may be time for a new radiator.

Note contrary to everyone's claims, the stock fans with their shrouds in place move way more air than any aftermarket ones do.

A few years ago I had an over heating problem when I had to go up long hills. I end up fix this with a Mitsubishi OEM radiator cap. I tried a couple (2) of the radiator caps (Stants & some other off brand they had) but still would over heat. The OEM cap solved this for me.

Yes many aftermarket caps have the distance between the lower rubber gasket and the upper one wrong (which makes a difference even with the correct spring), or the diameter of the gaskets wrong, or the width of the gaskets wrong, or the gasket is too thin, or the hold on clamps wrong, etc, etc, etc. Make sure you compare the new one to the correct one.

already did 2 flushes😭 prolly will just get a new radiator and flush it then.
